Since the u21 team has been eliminated from Euro qualifying, when is Sven going to callup Gareth Barry to the senior squad?

He may give him a go at some point, but it's doubtful.

I think Gareth Barry might lack a bit of pace, which he'll get exposed for at the top level. At the moment it seems Sven considers it to better to keep going with a square peg in a round hole.

Which is not so bad when that square peg is someone talented like Gerrard or Hargreaves. But definitely bad when it's someone useless like Lampard.

Why doesn't Sven try Bridge on the left in front of Cole. Bridge is naturally left footed.

Or what about McManaman now he is back in the Priemership

or like myself and others hae been saying bridge at left back cole at left wing although it looks like bridge is better and more productive going forward than cole yet also better defensively. so i don't know.

bridge has played at left wing for england with very little effect, i think the system sven is using now works well, and then having cole or bridge overlapping almost playing wingbacks i think this is the best we will get for the short term as there simply is no one who can do the role with any conviction. Lampard has proven he is a good players this season but not on the left while mcmanaman will not play for england again because so many people remember the last time he pulled on and england shirt, he is also getting on a bit and sven prefers to use players that will still be in the team in 2 or 3 years

I reckon heskey would be a good choice for the upcoming game..
Id select him either up front or on the left.

Heskey should not even be in the squad let alone the starting eleven, i think if beattie is given time he will show his worth he has the ariel ability taht will compliment owen, heskey just looks for the freekick all the time

I dont think beattie is international class.
heskey should be picked if scholes doesnt play..
If scholesy aint there then the team has a habit of playing too direct and playing too many long balls.
Heskey has to be there to give us some physical presence and win the ball.

but heskey doesnt win the ball beattie is a much better presence he actually wins the ball in the air if he plays central he causes the defenders problem in the air which is what owen needs coz lets face it hes a midgit

heskey is a big physical presence.
Even if he plays crap he still puts himself about and shakes up defenders.
Beattie just aint up to the job IMHO.

Its a shame that Robbie fowler has disappeared off the scene..He could've been good.

I think Heskey does a good job of winning balls outside of the box. He just can't do anything with it afterwards.

I think if all the players are fit, then Sven's starting eleven should be....

    ---------------ROBINSON-----------------
    ----------------------------------------
    --------FERDINAND-----CAMPBELL----------
    G. NEVILLE----------------------W.BRIDGE
    ----------------------------------------
    ----------------------------------------
    ----------------BUTT--------------------
    D. BECKHAM-----------------------GERRARD
    ---------------SCHOLES------------------
    ----------------------------------------
    ----------------------------------------
    ----------------------ROONEY------------
    ----------OWEN--------------------------

*If Butt is injured, replace him with Gerrard. Put A.Cole at leftwing, if that doesn't work, put Heskey at leftwing.
*If Beckham is injured, replace with Gerrard and do the same as with the LW above.
*If Scholes is injured, replace with Rooney and put Heskey upfront with Owen.

    Second team

    ---------------JAMES--------------------
    ----------------------------------------
    -----------TERRY-----WOODGATE-----------
    D. MILLS-------------------------A. COLE
    ----------------------------------------
    ----------------------------------------
    ----------------LAMPARD-----------------
    DYER------------------------------HESKEY
    ---------------J. COLE------------------

i think rooney may be the man for left wing he can also play in the role behind the two strikers or up front. i think it may also be in considertion to play beckham in the middle of midfieldhe has been doing a good job up front and we dont seem to have any one who can score headers so whats the point in having him on the right his crosses dont have much effect for england and lampard should never play the holdinng role in midfield thats just wrong. but i still think that heskey should not even be in the england squad he has done very little in and england shirt

Theres only one player to play on the left for England...

    Danny Murphy !
he'd be more natural than anyone else mentioned!

In a bag with a cat.
I'd say Alan Thompson, if his injury is not too bad. Either way, Wayne Bridge should be the left back, not the over rated Ashley Cole. Cole can't defend.

Thompson is another good one, but why do u mention Bridge or Cole, Defenders on the left wing? i think not.

Anyway, we have the best left winger in Britain...
    Ryan Giggs

    WAAAAAAAAALES!!

Good idea, but I think it should be A Cole up front and Bridge at LB. Not sure what McManaman did to SGE, but I don't see him making any future England squads. Wish Giggs had an English granny...
