Sat 10/18, 7am, ET It's on FSW at 12pm, ET. Since it's the early game, I would expect it to be on FSW live as well, but the FSW web site has not made this announcement yet.
According to foxsportsworld.com, that game is slated for a live broadcast at 7 am ET on 10-18 and replayed a little later on
Thanks soccerlube. I see it listed on the FSW site with the EPL listings, but not with the soccer listings. It seems logical that they would show it as they always seem to show the early game live.
Did anybody pick up any injuries last weekend, or is everybody fit? Assuming everybody is in the same state as before they left, I say we go with: ----------RVN-------------- -----------Scholes-------- Giggs---------------Fletcher/Ronaldo --------Butt---Keane--------- O'Shea--Rio--Silv---G. Neville -----------Howard-------------
Crowd alert ahead of United clash Leeds United are on red alert in case Manchester United fans try to gatecrash home sections of Elland Road on Saturday. Visiting supporters have been handed just 1,600 tickets in the South East Corner after both clubs agreed to the reduction in a bid to avoid trouble. Last season, fighting broke out between rival fans outside the stadium after the Whites' 1-0 win. After the visitors' allocation was cut for Saturday's encounter, Reds fans opted to try and buy tickets for areas reserved for home supporters. But during checks, large numbers of fans, who were obviously not Leeds supporters, have been turned away after trying to buy tickets at Elland Road. Doug Smith, the Leeds ticket office manager, said: "We have done everything we can to stop tickets falling into the wrong hands. "Any away supporters spotted in home areas will be escorted out of the ground by stewards." Traditionally, the visit of Manchester United to Elland Road sells out weeks in advance but Leeds' poor start to the season has discouraged many Whites' fans from buying tickets. The gate-crashing fears rose when tickets went on general sale on Monday 29 September, with a maximum of eight tickets per person allowed. Members of Leeds' Strikers Club had been restricted to just one ticket each. (http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/031015/21/eb5c5.html ---- in case anyone thinks that this is a hoax)
Re: Crowd alert ahead of United clash Just wondering, how do they know if a (Manchester) United supporter is buying home tickets? Even if they do spot a United fan in the game, does the club have the right to escort the fan out of the stadium?! After all, he did pay for the ticket but maybe there's clause which says the ticket is reserved for a Leeds supporter but how do you define a "Leeds suporter"?. It's pretty hard to imagine this happening in America. The same thing goes for the Turkey game last week, when fans actually had to prove Turkish citizenship before being allowed into the stadium. This is pretty serious stuff man.
It is mostly a security issue. The hated between leeds united and manchester united is a great one. People can be attacked in Leeds for being Man U fans, just as Leeds fans would be attacked in Manchester. That's why there is an away section at every league ground in the country. Imagine what would happen at Elland Road if a Leeds Supporter bought a ticket in the away supporters section.... he'd have to leave because he's be beaten to a pulp. On thing you might not realise is that you ALWAYS buy your tickets from your own club. It doesn't matter if i'm going to Manchester or Portsmouth, I HAVE to go through the Leeds United ticket office. What usually happens is that if an away fan is found in the home section, they are escorted to the away section, but in this case, there might be so many that it would become very unsafe with all of the people in the southeast corner. Since all grounds are all seater, you must have a seat for safety reasons. If you add another 100 to a full section, then you will have a large safety issue on your hands. That is why the club have come out and said that all Man U fans that have not got their tickets from the Manchester United ticket office will be removed from the stadium if they make themselves known. If they are quiet and don't try to cause any problems ("activly" being an away supporter in the home section is a problem) then there will be no grounds to throw them out because everything will still be safe for everyone. I hope that makes sense as i have been rambling a bit.
also, I don't suppose any of you are going to the match? If you are, you should contact me, and i can show you are great pub that is friendly to away supporters
One of these days I wouldn't mind seeing Ronaldo up front with RVN. Won't happen for a while I know, but Giggs, Scholes, Keane and Fletcher would make a good midfield. You could still have a diamond formation with Scholes up top and Keane in a more defensive role. -------------RVN----------Ronaldo------------- ------------------Scholes---------------------- --Giggs------------------------------Fletcher--- -------------------Keane----------------------- ---O'Shea-----Rio--------Silvestre------Neville--- --------------------Howard--------------------- If you need more defensive/possession players you have djemba and fortune on the bench...
I think just Kleberson and Ole Gunnar are out; athough O'Shea's pride might be still hurt after the mistake he made in the Ireland game. I think he's experienced a little dip in form recently. The Stuttgart game was a bad one for him as well.
its going to be a DEVILish saturday afternoon at leeds my oh my! leeds has it comin. i will first start off by sayin that i wish we had a major 'soccer' rivalry in the states. american football provides much angst, however, and much to my dismay, 'soccer' is far from it. however, i believe im on my mark when i say that the DEVILS will win this tie. rivalry games are rarely blowouts, however, the brisk colorado air is telling me it is going to be an elitist 4-nil DEVIL w. rvn nets two, scholes returns to form, and giggs sends the whites home in utter disgust. and if anyone on this board is a member of the MAN U board, heres a though: if rio should have a run-in with the fa, or if you would just like to shore up your backline for giggles, there is this kid that plays for the colorado rapids. he goes by NAT BORCHERS. this kid can play most anywhere, but he is downright solid at centreback. a rookie, from 'nowhere,' an incredible talent. smart, never out of position, understands the flow, his tactics are on spot, check him out. tha cmac
Re: its going to be a DEVILish saturday afternoon at leeds Scholes returns to form? When did he leave it? Single-handedly destroyed a Birmingham side that just drew Chelsea.
calm down longhorn my apologies, my apologies. i meant to say giggs. giggsy needs to net one. aside from keane and scholes, giggs is our emotional leader. we need top form throughout the campaign to find continued success both domestically and in europe. scholes has been out of his buckle lately, i just hope sir ferg hasnt thrown him back into the lineup to soon and that his problems with hernia have ceased. but yes, power to the DEVILS. my salutations. cheers. tha cmac
Re: Crap lucky for you. Poll hates Leeds. If you remember, he's the same guy who last season didn't give the penalty to us at Old Trafford after Viduka was taken down by a flying knee in the box from Nicky Butt. We hate Graham Poll. Don't worry, he'll manage to give you lots of calls for nothing.
Re: Re: Crap Great, just what we need, more reason for people to accuse Manchester of having a ref on our side.
I'm sure one of these days the FA will give up on its Manchester United bias campaign and just hand us the trophy in September...
Yes, indeed, its pretty obvious that manu has dominated english football for more than a decade due mostly impart to impartial refs, and partly due to the fact that it has and spends money...
HT: Manchester United 0, Leeds United 0 Teamsheet: Van Nistelrooy Ronaldo, P. Neville, Scholes, Keane, Fletcher Fortune (O'Shea), Silvestre, Ferdinand, G. Neville Howard Both Giggs and Solskjaer are not even on the bench. Giggs is currently having a bad cold and I'm not sure about Ole. Talking point: Ronaldo booked for diving in the box.
