Though you would have to think one cap in a friendly isn't going to impress the appeals committee. England's gonna be a tough ticket without caps.

MLS Transfers is the only one "reporting" it so more than likely he made it up to get more followers. Whoever runs that account is about as credible as the website that was claiming CJ Sapong was going to Arsenal a last year.

Yeah, no way he can get a WP. No team will pay a relatively substantial fee for a 28 year old, so NE won't be tempted to sell their most influential player, he should definitely stay in MLS

See I disagree. He's pretty spot on most of the time, he gets a lot right for a "transfer page"

Getting an English WP will be a pain in the ass for him. I would be surprised if he leaves MLS anyway.

England is impossible these days for an
American without an EU passport (or some other qualifying passport) who isn't a USMNT regular

If by most of the time you mean never, then I'd agree.

But a UK work permit via the infamous "investment visa" is lunch money for Shad Khan.

I am kind of confused as to how he gets the "info". Does he plagiarize less known sources like small websites or does he use other twitter rumors as "sources".

Wonder if they might be interested in a short term loan. Do guys still need A WP for loans?

I wish we were talking about Bundesliga rumors. Diminutive Asian playmakers (duh, he's American - but the physical and technical characteristics match) have been a big hit there - if he was 5 years younger they'd be all over Nguyen. Scores, assists, works hard - awesome player. Frankfurt's Inui (topped with some bite and nastiness) might be a good comparison.

He is not a DP player.

Lee signed a new deal in January of 2014 that saw him get a decent bump but no where near DP levels.

This season he made $193,750 (he made $80,100 last season).

If the cap goes up this year due to the CBA, I could see them restructuring his deal upwards, kind of like how Wondo did it later in his career.

He might be the best bargain in the league.

The only thin that defines a DP is if someone is willing to pay them that much.

I think it's going to happen for Nguyen.

    This.

The only thing I can think of is if they're scouting him thinking that come next summer, after the Gold Cup, they might be able to get him into England. If he starts most of the Gold Cup, and it's the US' A lineup, maybe he's got a shot.

But then, why scout him now?

That is great but that is not what you said. He is not on a DP contract right now as you claimed.

Oh, my post was pretty ambiguous. I was trying to state that I would prefer Nguyen to aim for a DP contract with England rather than go to the Championship with Fulham. The WP issue makes that moot, though.

Not entirely. They might be willing to be patient and loan him out immediately with the message that he gets released for any and all MNT games in order to boost his WP chances. I could see one or two mid-table Eredivisie teams being interested on that basis.

It's most unlikely, especially given his age, but it is possible.

I agree with you about MLS on DP wages being better for him than the Championship. Depends on how willing New Englad are to negotiate.

WP will keep him out of England. With his style of play and current contract amount, he'd be a great, great pick-up for an upper-table Dutch club (this time around, anyway).
