Over that Brentford screw up: https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/lee-mason-leaves-pgmol-costly-var-error-arsenal/blt5bba67810d90a2f7
Was mentioned/discussed briefly in the Brentford thread already? One possible interpretation is that Howard Webb has some balls?
Well if we win the title we might not need those 5 points otherwise *WOW* we may have a very valid complaint, well, at least it won't be some bullshit one like what Sheffield United tried to cook up when we beat them FAIR AND SQUARE 1-nil in that now-famous FA Cup semifinal tie at Old Toilet 20 years ago, first the FACT that Duane (I think that was his name) Allison didn't even attempt to get up after referee Graham Poll waived play to continue, and them claiming that Graham Poll "ran a (favorable for us) pick" on midfielder Michael Tonge, in which lead to Freddie Ljungberg scoring the goal that won it for us.
What I don't get is that he screwed us, but that always gets overlooked. In this case he is fired, or at least offered the option to resign. It's like more is happening with here. Like there is a reason (besides by refereeing) to ask him to resign. It's like there is a reason to get rid of him. LIke $$ involved.
Just now seeing / hearing / reading about this. Honestly, that might be the most difficult thing to prove out of any possible scenario. My brain went the other way and assumed he could have been either intoxicated or on drugs at the time he was officiating. You make a glaring error like what happened with the stakes that high and it's very easy, (possibly even required) to do a post-game assessment that would include testing for substances.
