I missed out on the match, but it seems like Lee Kang-In had a very impressive performance from deeper-areas of the pitch. Although his stint at Mallorca was more of a display of his on-the-ball repertoires, I truly am enjoying his evolution as a player (maybe it more circumstantial, and more due to his age and maturity at this particular stage of his career-arc) at PSG.

 

He did okay. Wish he got more passes from his teammates. His position was far better than others in many situations.

 

He cannot expect for the team to replicate the insane amount of relative on-the-ball priority, in terms of opportunities with the ball, that he got in Mallorca.

Brevity that stems from a limitation of opportunities will help him tactical point of view. He already showcased his on-the-ball range and potency at another place. Being more of a ball-hog and showcasing his range of ball-talent will merely turn him into another Adel Taarabt.

I think this difficult circumstance will force a tactical-growth within him, which will ultimately turn him into a more potent weapon overall. I never appreciated his tactical discipline and off-the-ball movement when he was a teeanger. His growth at PSG will be of another kind, and maybe he will unleash all of his potential elsewhere, but this current growing pain will be necessary, from my personal point of view.

 

I missed the match but caught some highlights and game review videos on YouTube and it seems like LKI cooked on that right side with Dembele

 

For Mallorca or the Korean national team? Sure. Would I recommend a path of ride-or-die on being such a player in an era that demands high levels of off-the-ball work and tactical discipline? Maybe if I really wanted the best YouTube highlight videos, or an off-chance punt at making a stupdenous tournament run reminiscent of Diego Maradona.

I personally prefer his role-model being somebody like David Silva, maybe not the centre-of-all-attention type, but a really pragmatically amazing, tactically sound player despite not being much of an athlete.

 

Added a lot of energy when he was subbed in against Girona, and showed that he probably should have started ahead of Zaire-Emery. He's probably PSG's third best midfielder at the moment.

Super frustrating that the right-footed Hakimi took that free kick which was perfectly placed for LKI. Even Luis Enrique seemed pissed at that.

 

Not the first time. Whenever both of them are preparing for a freekick, I know Hakimi will take it.

 

Dude needs to leave.

He isn't going to truly meet his potential by being an impact sub.

 

They got him playing the 9 today? I turned it on a little after half time and he seems to be playing consistently in that center forward spot today.

Had a nice second ball goal.

 

What a performance so far. This guy is a true multi-position player.

 

I re-watched his highlights, and I never knew Lee Kang-In's was this good at hold-up and link-up play with his back-to-the-goal.

He seemed to be quite sturdy at the core, and not that easily knocked off-balance, despite numerous disadvantageous duels against Christopher Wooh with his back-turned against the opponent's goal, who was towering over him at 191cm tall, and was quite happy to apply pressure.

There were a couple of more moments like this, but below is an example of the kind of plays he was doing.

I hate Arsenal

 

He did what he can, but Ligue 1 simply isn't a great place to grow as a player.

 

Scored 2 goals today.

6 goals total this season with only around 750 minutes played.

Really hope he starts getting played more and hopefully he moves on to somewhere else if everything goes well.

 

LKI came on as a sub against Bayern yesterday and the same question keeps on ringing in my head this season: How long can he be patient with not getting enough game time when some of these first 11 players are not even clearly better than he is?

He needs to put in a transfer request and go to a club that can give him that game time. Son had to basically force Poch's hand in starting him in the first 11 by asking to be let go back to Germany before he started to see way more consistent game time, so I believe it is high time LKI does the same as well.

 

Rumors going around that Arsenal and Man United are interested in LKI.

Really wish he goes to City if it is confirmed that Pep will sign another long term deal with Man City.
