MetroStars general manager Nick Sakiewicz said he has not contacted anyone yet, but said he was flooded with résumés. I hope he received mine.
Well, it still doesn't hurt to send your resume and references. Dave Sarachan is hard-working, humble and sincere. In other words, bad fit for Metro. I'm kidding. Hope he gets the job. He deserves it.
I am all for Sarachan. I think he is the absolute perfect fit, as his best characteristics are something the Metrostars have never had. We are always big on words, but negative on results. Hopefully, the next step is the firing of Nick.
If you could, please let them know that my six-year olds are 0-0-2 in Manasquan Rec Soccer this fall. Thanks!
Must be those red cards...maybe they should seek professional help, or else this recklessness might cost you a playoff spot.
1. Is that 0-0-2 in American (2 draws) or European (2 losses) standings? These things are important, you know. 2. Leagues keep score & standings with six-year-olds? Is that common? (Just seems weird to me.)
You miss the incredible depth of my humor. All games are "ties" in six-year old rec soccer. That said, my son Tyler may need professional help to deal with his anger management issues. I'm paying him good money to produce and it's high time he did.
are you one of those folks who take up all the parking in front of my mother in law's house in sea girt? on weekends, i have to park about a mile away. when i grace her with my presence, that is.
Humor of any kind is not tolerated in the MFO, and "clever" humor is punished immediately. Hence, consider yourself out of the running.
I think Sarachan wants the job. However, I don't see him taking it unless he gets assurances from Payne that he will have autonomy from Nick on all coaching and most personell issues. I don't see him leaving his current gig to deal with an ego-manical GM who lies on his resume about having "played" in Europe and who sits on the bench during games and who injects himself into all the personell issues and many of the coaching issues. In otherwords, someone like Nick. For Sarachan to come, he's going to need Nick to agree to but-the-hell-out. Will Nick agree to this? That's the $64,000 question. If he does, and basically agrees to just concentrate on the business and stadium development issues, then I think Sarachan comes aboard. If not, paging Mr. Dir, Mr. David Dir.
This seems bang-on correct. It's not like the Metros job has such a tremendous amount of prestige, compared to several other big MLS jobs, that a smart coach would swallow Nick's ridiculous, interfering style in order to take the position. I don't recall a GM in the league's history who was so obsessed with letting everyone know how involved he is in issues directly related to on-field play. There's no explanation for it, other than ego, and by appealling for such direct credit for on-field success, he's inviting himself for criticism when the team does badly.
Exactly. Why does Nick have to always be in the limelight? It is ridiculous that he demands so much respect for doing so little. Now, my question is do the Metrostars actually deserve a coach like Sarachan? I honestly don't think so. We are such a (rap organization, that I think MLS should disband us and start over completely. The name, everything, just keep the red and black. That's it.
I think the fact is the MetroStars need a marque defender, a marque midfielder, and one coach who can motivate and organize them into a team. The pieices for the most part are there. Sarachan sounds like the type of guy who would take this challenge and move this organization forward and maybe do away with some of Oz's pets. Heck, Oz will probably trade for his favorites once /if he gaet another MLS job.
If he "didn't think he'd be here" and his "head wasn't into it" and he doesn't understand his behavior on the field you may have a problem on your hands. Ship him out before he blows a playoff spot for you.
