Sunday 18.00 hrs, Eindhoven: PSV - FEYENOORD –

    - Referee: Manschot

    - Champion PSV is going for the Supercup for the 22nd time. The Eindhoven team is the record holder with fourteen cups. Cup winner Feyenoord will play for the Supercup for the twelfth time. The club already has four in its trophy cabinet.

    - Both clubs also competed for the Johan Cruyff Shield last year. PSV won 1-0 thanks to a goal by Noa Lang in the 79th minute.

    - PSV can't call on Mauro and Boscagli due to injuries. De Jong is ill. It is uncertain whether the striker will be able to play.

    - Feyenoord, where coach Brian Priske makes his official debut, lost his last two friendly matches (Benfica and AS Monaco). PSV beat Valencia 2-1 in its final test.

    - PSV and Feyenoord have met each other six times before in the battle for the Johan Cruyff Shield. PSV won not only last year, but also in 1992, 2008 and 2016. In 1991 and 2018, Feyenoord was the strongest.

    - For the second time, the Supercup game will take place in the Philips Stadium. The first time, in 2018, Feyenoord won on penalties against PSV.

Sadly, this did not deter LdJ from starting. Match is 1-2 Feynord after 37'

Don't kid yourselves - this is the Ledezma PBP thread - the others are just freeloaders.

Only half-watching but RKC is so out of their depth it looks like a practice game.

Tillman with good work with LdJ in tight to get the hockey assist on a second.

On the plus side, no goals for LdJ... yet. There are more to come in this game.

Banger from Tillman but absolutely no pressure from the defense.

Will be interesting to see if they try to get Pepi more minutes in these types of games this season.

They will probably keep LDJ in close to 90 to build up match fitness...

Not going to rejoin this for the 2nd half, but RKC look to be in for a long season. Even with a very make-shift PSV back 4 they look overwhelmed. Ledezma not in sync, but also nothing terrible in 1st half. He played very safe and it looked like his CDs expected him to make runs a few times, but in Richie's position probably better anonymous than anything else in this kind of game.

The RKC goalkeeper saves his best work for last to deny a nice header by Pepi. Even worse, Chucky scores two second-half goals.

  23. Voetbal international's Team of the Week:
    matchday 1
Elftal van de Week: Didillon-Hödl; Ledezma, Rente, Van Hoorenbeeck, Boscagli; Schouten, Tillman, Halilovic; Schreuders, Lammers, Rui Mendes

Maybe the thread title should get an addition?
