It's a benefit for Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center in Memphis. This is the second annual game, which was organized by Carey Talley in honor/memory of his father.

Maybe this will get someone interested in starting up a team in Memphis.

We already have land and a soccer stadium that was built to be able to expand. Youth soccer is really big here, but that doesn't translate into MLS fans. We had an MLS exhibition here 3 or 4 years ago and only about 4,000 people showed, but then again it was about 40 degrees that day.

    Memphis Rogues

How did the Rogues do in NASL outdoor attendance. My recollection was that the team had respectable attendance. If the Grizzlies weren't in town, I would think MLS in Memphis would have a better chance. Memphis is about the 35-40th biggest TV market and Metropolitan Statistical Area. Therefore, the sponsor base isn't real broad and the Grizzlies are probably sucking up most of the corporate dollars in town. Certainly Fed Ex is in deep with the Grizzilies. I doubt they would be able to spend much more on an MLS team. So, who else could step forward in Memphis?

thats awesome. Richard Mulrooney is from Memphis, so Im sure he's already there for the off-season....

and that Bo guy....hes the back up keeper for KC right? If thas him, then he showed me his butt because I told him it was rather large........I didn't enjoy is at all. It was rather nasty actually. So those of you in Memphis who will be attending this game, dont tell him he has a big butt, it's the wrong thing to do if you ever want to see again.

Carrey Talley, Richard Mulrooney and Ross Paule are all from Memphis, along with former MLS player Tony Kuhn. As for the Grizzlies, they are sucking up all of the corporate dollars. FedEx just payed $90 Million to call the new NBA Arena the FedExForum. Autozone HQ are also here but they just built an $80 baseball stadium. Something that would help is that we've already got a soccer complex with an expandable stadium already built. All we'd need is somebody to buy a team and expand the stadium. I don't see Memphis getting at team in the near future, but wouldn't be surprised to get one once MLS expands to around 20 teams. (10 or 15 years from now I'd guess)

From what I've been told by people at the Mike Rose Soccerplex MLS staff will be at this game so they could be taking some notes.

It's a very small stadium so people should be able to get up close and get photos and autographs.

I'm bringing the jersey Talley wore in the DC- Bayer Leverkusen game (Talley scored!)

Welcome Greg. Glad to have you on board. By all means, go out and attend this game. Support MLS as much as you can. But, be careful with Bigsoccer, you'll have to grow some thick skin pretty quickly to survive.
