https://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0500603DE4A84D37 So...about that "Boycott the Money-Grab" thing. Ok, so it's obviously part of the season ticket package, but it definitely seems like the house will be packed on Friday. Someone needs to start a pregame thread!
KC again. We just beat them here a month and a half ago. Pretty unusual to get 2 visits from a western conference foe so close together. Okay, just to clarify here, the Crew have hosting rights through the final. Even if we play Orlando or Cincinnati, that game will be played in Columbus. Of course, that's meaningless if we don't get past Kansas City first. Rapids were up 4-3 after 9 of the initial 10 pks were taken. Zack needed to stop Leon on the final shot to prevent further pks. He caught the ball. Not just saved it or anything, he actually CAUGHT it!! That was his second save in the PK shootout, and he had already made 7 saves earlier in the match, including a couple that were just about 1 v the goalie. Deservedly named MOTM, and his best game for the Rapids. (Of course, the PKs only happened after the Rapids tied the game in the 97th minute. Exciting stuff.) Finally, regarding that Cincinnati game: good grief, are you kidding me? How did NYC give up 4 goals in the span of 10 minutes, to turn a 2 goal lead into a 2 goal deficit? That is failure of the highest degree.
So it'd be TFC or Miami on... Tuesday? The schedule suggests Monday or Tuesday. If it's Monday, that's better news for me, but it'd be less rest for the team since the TFC-Miami game is on Thursday. In an ideal world, playoffs would have consistent/equal number of days off for both teams throughout the competition. The NCAA basketball tournament does a similar thing where one team may play Friday/Sunday then have to play the next Thursday against a team that played that Thursday/Saturday. How hard would it be to have one half play *these days* and the other half play *these other days?* Anyhoo, here's our section of the bracket. I think: Tigres/Pachuca winner plays NYC vs NER/Mazatlan/Nashville (New England plays Nashville in Game 3. It's free on AppleTV and also on FS1.) Toronto/Miami winner plays SKC/Columbus winner. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheMassive/comments/1eknf5q/leagues_cupdate_85/#lightbo As far as linear TV, it's anyone's guess.
FCKY has some serious weapons, although Noonan brought them off the bench on 70 minutes which is even more alarming. And NY's defense absolutely fell asleep somehow. They're normally not that bad but Cincy carved them up like a Christmas ham. They just waited until the last 15 minutes to do so.
The STL Santos board of directors has voted to lift its boycott of the Leagues Cup and return to CITYPARK for Friday’s game against Portland. pic.twitter.com/O2UGr52v3A— ⚜️ STL Santos ⚜️ (@STLCitySantos) August 6, 2024
This has happened before. Back in the 70s the Intercontinental Cup was played at least once with one leg before and one after the transfer window--and in one case (1977) not until the following year. The teams in the second leg bore little resemblance to the teams in the first leg, though they carried the same names.
Yeah they are being ousted as a member of the stl city SG collective, They didn't meet with any of the other SG to discuss this. @everyone STL Santos has unilaterally determined to end the Leagues Cup boycott. They chose to hold a vote at their board level without informing other SGs of the possible vote about returning. They intend to fully coordinate SG activities, as they would on any other CITY SC match day (drums, march-in, flags, chants) for the upcoming match against Portland. Unfortunately, this decision has resulted in unclear damage to the previously budding SG Collective and puts the SLCP/Santos ongoing partnership at risk, as we are uncertain of future intent to be collaborative. SLCP is NOT changing our stance on the boycott. If you have any questions, please let us know. - from my Friend named Adam who is a huge fan. Lives in Illinois near STL.
618 represent. Even though I was 217, the area code was 618 across the street from us. Long distance call every time we called a neighbor.
Are you she about this? I read that cincy and Orlando are higher seeded than us and would both host us if we played.
BREAKING: Tall Chris hates all Crew fans in Northeast Ohio. With the possibility of a Crew v Miami matchup looming for next week, I really hope that no one in the #Crew96 Front Office is thinking about having the game in Cleveland on Monday night.— Chris LaMacchia (@chrislamacchia) August 7, 2024
As a person with strong roots in Lorain County and many close personal friends residing along the shores of Ohio's Great Lake, I categorically deny this baseless accusation.
Nope. It was in the Leagues Cup rules, that MLS Winner and Liga MX winner get hosting rights through the Semi's.
Don't forget that it's an opt-out game rather than opt-in. So, in theory, it's already mostly sold out.
I almost worked that in, but I didn't want to get too cute. I've got four months left, I'm going to make them count.
