They're against things "because cash grab" but they'll also pay premiums for closer parking or Tipico Club seats or whatever when there's lower-cost options available. Attendance? Absolutely. If/when MLS goes back to the USOC, I'd better see fans in the upper level of LDC and a packed-to-the-gills Nordecke. I'm sure I won't, which probably puts me in the running for realest fan, but oh well. And yeah...it's definitely a throwback in MLS when there's games on days not called Wednesday or Saturday.
The last USOC game at LDC had just the lower east side open and maybe some of the Nordecke, if I recall correctly. Pretty par for the course for the USOC until you hit the semifinals. I've been one of just a few hundred fans to wait out a rain delay at Jesse Owens stadium to watch the Crew play the Rowdies in the USOC. I'm definitely a supporter of it. But Leagues Cup is awesome.
I have been one of the tens of people in HCS watching Open Cup games. it was actually fun to not only be able to hear the player communication on the field but to have the opposing goal keeper be able to hear what we were yelling at him.
I can't remember which game it was, but I suspect it was the game vs Tampa Bay when I took some Periscope videos. What's left of Periscope says videos are still up there, but I have no idea how to actually access them or even if Elon did something to kill those videos off. Periscope was a fun app too.
**Insert plug for Crew 2 games here.** We got a wave from Kelvin Jones when we were in 141 and he was walking to the benches.
MLS PR press release. Also, I’m sure people could just go do the math themselves. Just noticed the Messi line (bullet point 2) in the Leagues Cup PR email I got about opening weekend attendance. https://t.co/Bw0kPEsY5u pic.twitter.com/XIFxjxOEc9— James Nalton (@JDNalton) July 29, 2024
Pachuca and Toronto through to the knockout stage after Red Bull loses another shootout. A Pachuca win in the final group game would put the Crew in line for a rematch in the R16.
It might be the toughest matchup, but I want them at home for payback. Also, please let me know what hotel they are staying at.
If Pachuca loses to Toronto, they would still be a potential QF matchup. To clarify, Pachuca has officially qualified for the knockouts, the only question is whether we could meet them in R16 or QF. Dayne St. Clair had a ludicrous game tonight. Probably the top single-game performance of the tourney so far.
Austin beat both Pumas and Rayados to win their group, and their reward is likely going to be a pissed off LAFC team in the R32.
Came back to win the shootout so a win vs Tijuana still puts them top of the group and sends LAFC to Austin.
And there was the time my cousin's kid was the backup goalie for one of the USL teams we played--and I didn't figure it out until afterward. I figured that surname was a coincidence--it wasn't.
@hangthadj After watching last night's almost comeback of the year, quick question, who has the worst PK shot in Black and Gold history -- Big Cat Sanneh or Kei Kamara? Trick question -- Kamara plays for the Gold and Black and everyone knows the worst PK was when the Sounders broke the floor.
Reminder that we face the 2nd place team in the toluca, Chicago, kc group. KC leads the group and Toluca is playing in their first game vs Chicago now. Toluca was a CCC team which were upset by a central American team.
Does the MLS app have Leagues Cup standings? I have not been able to find them. I know Google has them but I would think the “league” in charge of leagues cup would do a better job.
FCC looks like a team that blew its load against Miami last month. 1-0 win over a toothless Queretaro in which they had about a dozen chances to score a second, and their unmarked forwards botched all of them. The lone goal was an easy save that slipped through the keeper's hands.
