Chivas have a strong hold on California, but Club America is right behind them. Especially in pockets of the Bay Area, Sacramento and Redding. We have 7 buses of Latinos from Corning, Red Bluff and Redding goin to Atlanta for them vs Chelsea. Tigres, America and Xolos would draw better in Los Angeles, but they would still put 30-40k in Levi.
Maybe it's CA next year, by some incredible "chance" occurence. Graber took note. He's gonna want to do this again next year. Of course the team has to choose Levi's as their "home stadium". But what their home stadium is may be highly "suggested" to them as well. "OK, so what's your home stadium gonna be.....it'd better be LEVI'S STADIUM!!"
Garber is going to redraft the district lines so he can shove LAFC, LA Galaxy, San Diego, San Jose, Club America, Juarez, Xolos and Chivas all into one group so he can cash cow the soccer from the only state that matters. In all seriousness though, doesn't it have to do where everyone finishes in the table? or is it based on demographics? I've never been able to figure it out.
If Chivas and/or Club America are highly seeded to get "hub priviliges" like they did this year, they can play at Levi's against any opponent. The Quakes don't have to be involved.
Sure but it would make more sense to locate in the location of an MLS opponent if possible, and the location makes sense for a Liga MX team. The Cade homecoming made it even a bit more compelling. For example, Monterrey chose Austin and they're playing Austin.
There was no random draw, as the groups were just created by the tournament organizers. The restrictions were that there had to be one team from each of three seeding "tiers" based on 2023 league standings (Chivas were Tier 1, Quakes Tier 2, Galaxy Tier 3), and all three teams can't be from the same league. Also they made a West/East split, so MLS teams in the same group have to be from the same conference.
Attendance was way down in St. Louis, where protest occurred. St. Louis CITY SC navigates fan boycott in Leagues Cup matches . . . Perhaps the most telling sign of the boycott, CITY’s reported attendance for the game was 17,584, a far cry from the stadium’s usual sellout crowd of 22,000-plus . . . https://fox2now.com/sports/stl-city...navigates-fan-boycott-in-leagues-cup-matches/
It's a 20 percent (every fifth person) drop in attendance from a full house, and reportedly ruined the atmosphere for the game, because it was the supporters section primarily (per the article). Also, the team and league are talking with the boycotting supporters (also, per the article). The powers that be have plainly noticed.

F&$# el-lay!! I hate that those bastards (and LAFC, and others) are always signing big time players while we are looking in the bargain basement bin. We suck. I hate Fisher. I hate Shawlee and Leitch too for not doing better. Grrrrrrrr! Go Quakesfans!!
