I’d be surprised if Ian doesn’t have the full time job already in the bag. Fishernomics.

It’s either Ian of Stahre 2.0.

I hope that Ian has the job for next year. Maybe not more than that, but next year for sure. Ian has us looking organized and sometimes playing with passion. That’s better than the last several seasons. I want to see what he can do with more time and some roster revamping.

Even if we suck against Necaxa, we’ve been terrible all season and the small improvement we’ve seen under Ian is enough to make me hopeful. It’s a wonder that Ian has the guys playing as well as they are after so much adversity.

    Go Quakesfans!!

We lost 5 of our last 6 league games, since Ian took over. o_O

I agree with Mark's assessment, let's give Ian the reigns next year and some input to shaping the roster. It's not like any of our big name coach signings have produced results for this franchise. It's going to take someone who can take piece parts and mold a strong team capable of flexibility in their tactics and execution.

I think we’ll stick with Ian for next year too, but not because he passed the audition.

The audition is over already? With 9 games to play + Leagues Cup (in which we "advanced" past the group stage).

I’ve never suggested Matias had a great track record here. Matias was a winner before coming to SJ (5 trophies in 3 years with Chivas after they’d gone through a 10-year drought) and it took him less than a year to start winning trophies again (in Athens with AEK) after he left.

He’s a strong argument for why just maybe coaching isn’t the problem in SJ.

I don’t really blame any of our last 9 coaches. Not enough is being done on the roster side for our team to be competitive.

We had people here saying Luchi’s the problem! The roster’s fine, we just need Ian!

And yet…Ians doing about as well as ( or maybe worse than) as all his predecessors, so far at least.

Auditions not over but nobody can say that losing 5 of your first 6 is exactly a good start.

I guess Ian’s status depends on how secure CL is in his job. If he gets the nod after not improving the arc of the season and doesn’t get very far in the Leagues Cup it must mean winning isn’t a KPI on Leitchy’s performance appraisal…

Quakes have already exceeded expectations in Leagues Cup.

He rightfully points out that Necaxa peppered Minnesota's goal, but he doesn't mention that Minnesota was protecting a 1-0 lead for 75 minutes with 10 men. They appear to be a mid-table kind of Liga MX team. We can beat them, or we can lose to them. We'll see. I think it's going to be PKs again.

I don't have a problem with Ian coaching next year. I disagree that Quakes weren't playing with passion last year under Luchi. Luchi had his issues, but I felt the team played for him and played hard last year even when losing. Too many tough loses this year wore the team down.

Also, the small improvements are not enough, but mostly because I don't think the overall roster even with slight improvements next year and a healthy Daniel is good enough to be more than the first under Luchi.

As far as Ian has them playing hard, well, they are professionals. Some of them are playing for jobs whether with the Quakes or other teams. Most players only have a short window in their professional careers.

This will be the 1st Leagues Cup game where the Quakes will be the more rested team - 8 days vs. 4 days for Necaxa (though for the Chivas games I think both teams were equally rested).
