Minnesota beat Necaxa 1-0 with 10 men since the 20' mark, as Dayne St. Clair stood on his head and made 16 saves. Necaxa took 30 shots.
Did you sign up last year for the “pay as we play” option? When we were set for the playoffs last year we were offered that option and signed up for it. I expect that you did as well. That’s why our tickets showed up in the account this morning.
What's interesting is that the season ticket package this season did not include a playoff match. Guess they were tired of refunds.
There hasn't been a specific playoff game in the package for several years. Last year there was a leftover bonus game because there was no Open Cup home game, and it was redirected to the playoff game that ended up not happening.
The package was the same last year, 20 games including three bonus games. The difference is that the Quakes didn't host a USOC match last year (this year's Bonus Game C) and only one Leagues Cup match (last year's Bonus Game A; this year's Bonus Games A & B). Last year, they added the Olimpia friendly as Bonus Game B and made the potential home playoff match Bonus Game C.
Interesting re specifics, but the upshot is the same: until this season, there have been a steady stream of refunds, or in my case credits to my season ticketholder account. Not sure whether I currently have a credit and whether that was applied against the Necaxa game (my rep is currently out of state, I'm told). In any event, I picked up my paper tix this morning at the stadium. Reduces my blood pressure to know I don't have to rely on cell service (or a cloud wallet) on game day. Plus, one of the stubs imprinted with Necaxa as the opponent will make its way to the museum. Ran into Shea Salinas in the bargain and had one of the players wave to me while heading to practice (I'm too blind to know who it was, but I waved back).
WTF. We were watching the Bay FC game and noticed lines for a smaller field. Was this because of a League Game?
Last night, we got charged $210, so I immediately emailed our rep and he said he would reverse the charge. He also set my account to opt out of the pay-as-you-play option. I guess I didn’t opt out of that in case we went to the MLS Cup playoffs. But at this point in the season, it looks like a safe bet to opt out now.
If you look at the thread for that galaxy game, people noted then that the PPP field was narrowed for leagues cup. And the narrowed touchlines were still pretty visible at the Bay FC game on Friday, i posted a photo in our BFC thread. It kept confusing me during the BFC game.
Shit! Necaxa's one of the very few Liga MX teams I haven't had a chance to work/watch in person! I tended to really like the "lesser" Mexican teams (e.g. Morelia, Pachuca, etc.) great atmosphere, cool locker rooms, some really nice people. OTOH, CA and Chivas were Bruce Arena on steroids in many ways...
In the ticket option there was an option to "opt in" for Leagues Cup tickets as the Quakes "advanced" it would appear you chose to "opt in"
Looks like if we beat Necaxa, we either play LAFC in LA or Austin here again at PPP. I doubt Austin will beat LAFC in LA but you never know...
So does the game vs Necaxa count as a playoff 'level' game? Meaning Pee Pal Park has hosted a high level meaningful Quakes game? If the Quakes win, does that give Ian the job? Get into round of 16? 8?
I don’t know if I’d call it a “playoff game”. But it’s something. We advanced in *something*. I doubt a win would seal a job for Ian. I think we’d have to have a pretty good end of season.
