We can beat Necaxa

 

The San Jose Earthquakes have advanced to the Leagues Cup Round of 32 and will host Liga MX’s Club Necaxa on Thursday, Aug. 8, at PayPal Park. Kickoff time is TBD.

Single-game tickets will be made available to the general public on Monday, Aug. 5, at noon PT on www.sjearthquakes.com/tickets/2024. Earthquakes Season Ticket Holders can access an exclusive pre-sale earlier that day starting at 9:30 a.m. PT by contacting their account representative.

So, this game is not included for STH?

 

The package was 17 regular season, 1 US Open Cup, and 2 Leagues Cup.

Will it be a sellout?

 

They aren’t that good, except that the pummeled the Flounders 3 to 1. Of course, the Flounders aren’t very good this season.

You really think we can beat them? I hope so. A good Leagues Cup run would be a little bit redeeming.

Let me elaborate.
In Leagues Cup, we are 0-1-1, with that tie going to a PK win. So we could argue that we are 1-0-1. So a decent run means that we beat Necaxa. If we lose, then it’s not a good run. And I don’t want to win on PK’s. I want to beat them in regulation.

It’s a “good run” because it’s gonna allow the Quakes to announce season ticket renewals this week.

 

Flounders have been using reserves this tournament.

 

I was charged $100 by the Earthquakes overnight, I'm assuming its for my two seats for the Necaxa game will have to contact my rep Johnathon to confirm, it would be nice if they asked first as i am not sure i can make it if its an earlier than usual start time.

 

STH's must have to opt out of these tickets. My Account Manager shows a paid invoice for two tickets and contains the tickets. My credit card has a pending charge from the Earthquakes. The price is the same as a normal game.

 

How many Necaxa fans are in the Bay Area? Should we expect another chivas type turnout?

 

San Jose has a huge Guadalajara expat population, just like it does Vietnamese and Portuguese.

Necaxa seems less geographically rooted. Although Aguascalientes is roughly the same population as San Jose, that appears to be Necaxa's home base home for barely twenty of its hundred-year history. (Per Wikipedia).

 

Not many Necaxa fans rooted, but they had a decrnt turnout in Seattle.... tossup. Deoends how many Quakes fans buy tickets

 

I watched some of the first half of that game. Sounders were a hair width of being up 2-0, but, had the goal called back after a lengthy VAR check. Nexaca then scores their first the result of a Sounder defensive miscue. Up until then Seattle looked the better team. Their long-injured new #10 De La Vega? is getting more playing time and looked pretty good.
