    Donovan may be out:

"The Galaxy know they must fill one hole in their lineup when they visit D.C. United on Saturday, with Chris Birchall serving a red-card suspension, and they might be looking for someone to step into captain Landon Donovan's shoes, too."

"Donovan skipped training sessions Tuesday and Wednesday, the club's last two at Home Depot Center before departing on an 11-day, three-game trek to Washington, Toronto and Chicago. He's dealing with fatigue that might put him on the bench, or off the 18-man game roster, this weekend."

Sounds like a classic case of sand in the vagina to me.

My prediction: he starts and has unlimited energy ... as he always seems to have playing in RFK when not wearing red, white, and blue.

I am disappointed that Bison did not start the thread with an Ewok picture - or because they party with wookies are they not considered animals? ;)

This game is going to be huge. If the boys use being at RFK to their advantage, we could eek this one out and reclaim home-field advantage. But it has the potential to bring them down if they can't keep their concentration, LA is very quick to punish mistakes and our defense/midfield is not afraid to make them.

lastly, sing it with me please .....

If the gov't shutdown cancels the Cherry Blossom parade and festivals in town, some of those folks may walk up.

If that stuff is not canceled - please keep road closures and the like in your head while planning your route to the game.

If the gov't does shut down, do not plan on taking the GW, BW, or Rock Creek Parkways to/from either

I love the way people interpret "essential" when a shutdown looms. In fact, the word is part of a phrase: "essential for public health and safety and protection of property." So I guess the Galaxy match is essential to keep enraged ticket holder from trashing RFK and menacing innocent bystanders if the game were not played.

I expect a rocking RFK on Saturday.

Glad we will have most of the team back.

I dont think Nygwena makes it into the game day roster

Wait, what? You're saying I can't take 295/BW Parkway to East Capitol like normal on gameday? I don't think the shutdown would effect that, would it?

I have read those roads will still be open, why is that rumor being spread?

I saw something in the Post about those roads this morning, saying those roads could likely be shut down - possibly they meant if it lasted more than a week or something.

I cannot locate that same story on the site now, but it's hard to find anything specific on that site any more.

Dr Gridlock does not adress it either way .......

I'm pretty sure that BW Parkway, GW Parkway, and Rock Creek are all technically under the authority of the National Park service, so that could be why they might be shut down. I haven't read anything about the roads in particular, but I know that if the shut down happens it will definitely effect National Parks.

I honestly can't see them shutting down a major thoroughfare like 295, but stranger things have happened. Guess I'll have to keep an eye on it.

They may shut down parts of Rock Creek, but they will not shut down the BW Parkway. No way - especially not since it is a major access point to Prince George's Hospital Center.

One thing that won't be enforced in DC during a shutdown is parking regulations. I had no idea until today that DC govt is considered basically a federal agency for shutdown purposes.

I was surprised to see BW Parkway on the list myself.

Being as I can no longer find an ounce of information either way, I guess disregard my warning, but have alternate plans just in case?

I had originally only gone to research the run on the GW Parkway this weekend to see if we had to be concerned for game traffic - it turns out that run is Sunday not Saturday - but it will be canceled if the gov't shuts down.

Wash Post has collected agency shutdown plans.
From the official Dept of Interior Statement re shutdown plans
GW & BW parkway likely are deemed necessary thruways

I took an old college friend of mine to USA vs Argentina...within a week he became an Outlaw, a member of the Screaming Eagles, and is going to the game this weekend. And I'm from New England...thank me later ;D

As someone who is salivating at the prospect of Davies scoring against LA, does anyone have an idea of how easy it will be to find this game online?
