    2-0 Woohoo!

Eddie made the goal, but when he was just in front of a gaping goal, he scuffed his shot and it just trickled in. Phew.

Overall, pretty 1-way direction first 25 mins in 2T. The subs have definitely asserted themselves. Here are the updated shots
    ARS: 13 (4)
    Leeds 10 (4)

You say "nearly squanders," I say "scores with flair."

    A couple of subs:
    Laca on for ESR
    Lokonga on for Elneny.

Would like to see us add at least 1 more and keep a clean sheet

Don't be so greedy! ;) 2-0 is lovely.

p.s. Holding down with cramps(?) and gets taken off for Tavares at 75'

‘76 Calum Chambers on for Ben White.
Tavares comes on for Super Bob

    Good match by both.

A little nervous with our defensive lineup…

Does Kalvin Phillips have the stupidest looking hair cut of all time?

It seems to cause him to play poorly, so if that’s indeed the case, I’m all for it.

Much better second half than first, still nowhere near enough chance creation from open play. Same as usual.

Thought AMN played a very solid game in midfield, and the makeshift backline was pretty good.

Chelsea - Southampton is about to go to pens for anyone watching on ESPN+.

FT 2-0. Didn't really watch too closely. It seemed like a so-so match. But we got the JOB DONE! Onward to the QF's

And @ArsenalMetro may be closing in on record territory with consecutive MD threads?

    FT. 2-0 Good Guys

We looked strong even with a heavily rotated side. Lots of optimism to take from this.

Thanks for the tip. I've got 2 screens on right now. Always fun to watch a PK shootout.

Edit: I needn't have bothered with 2 screens. The EFL Cup streams are so primitive they don't even have highlights. Back to the drama at the Bridge. :)

Just switching over to watch pens in the Chelski-Southampton tie.

1-1 at end of regulation at Stamford Bridge.

Edit: Hope I don’t jinx anything with the posts at same time as NorthBank..

A young man with the very very unfortunate surname of "Smallbone" just skyed a miss 5 yards high. Ugh, Chelsea may just advance.

Edit: Yup. Watch us draw them in the QF's. Sigh.

I just noticed this from the Beeb's live commentary:

Very relieved to hear that White was only ill, not injured. But if he had a virus, why did he start?? Seems an odd decision. I guess that doesn't speak well of Mari. Sheesh.

Otherwise, I chuckled a bit with some of his other comments:

Bielsa was so committed in every action? Aha, I guess I was watching even less closely than I realized. But the thought of a rather unfit middle-aged guy in every action certainly goes far in explaining their loss.

And we need to carry on and win more matches? Aha, that's it! He's revealed his secret strategic accumen.

    :p

Mari was also ill. Must be a bug going around Colney.

The (not Covid) addendum made me laugh out loud.

Kind of has to be said nowadays, though, doesn't it.

Quarterfinal draw is the only non-PL club left, Sunderland.

Two London derbies, sp*rs-West Ham and Chelsea-Brentford. Leicester-Liverpool round out the draw.
