I reckon the teams current problems stem from a lack of leadership from the management and senior players. Sven apparently prefers a 'Low-key' style of management... He takes a back seat in training and leaves the coaching to the assistant manager Brian Kidd. He doesnt give team speeches or half time speeches and again leaves it to the assistant manager. This is probably because he has about as much charisma and personality as a damp cloth. Brian Kidd also isnt known for being charismatic so where the hell will the team get inspiration and leadership???? Do they get leadership and motivation from the captain beckham?? he is a great player but he aint really a leader IMHO.I suppose you could draw inspiration from his workrate and talent but that doesnt seem to be happening at the moment. I cant ever imagine him standing up in the dressing room giving a stiring speech to inspire the troops. I also cant imagine him handing out warnings to players who arent doing their job on the pitch. Maybe sven wants a "modern,non-aggressive" captain so he picked Beckham. I dont think that there is much leadership within the whole squad to be honest with you. There isnt any inspirational figure such as Tony Adams in the dressing room ,or even a gazza style clown... Its all dullards like emile heskey..I bet the dressing room is like a morgue if things are going badly at half time...We used to have steve mclaren in the assistant manager role and he did a good job.. But know he is gone the lack of leadership is exposed... Players havent got any discipline because they know they wont get a rollocking form the captain or manager if they play crap... they're just going along at cruise control...
