when I saw this tribute I was afraid didi might be dead, but he was there today and apparently yesterday too.

Nice day on the road today. Last time I came over though Andora, from Spain to Toulouse, France. Driving that is, not riding. It just pissed down the whole way! Couldn't see a thing with the low cloud hanging in. It was so wet the car developed a water leak ...into my lap. Blew a back tire on the way down...woo hoo!!! Then to top it all we blew a big end bearing. A fun day was had by all.
Now (for me on record ) the rain and hail hits. That has to be fun The only way to watch this is is DVR. 3:30am is a tad early for me. Then I can cherry pick the best bits.
Tough finish today. Battered by rain and hail as well as the altitude and the grade. . It's hard to have any respect for Quintana. He's just a leach who wants to be carried along by others. They keep saying he's the best climber in the world. Time he stepped up and did a bit of work for himself. Now for the F1 race from Siverstone. Going to be a tough day for a couch potato...e Then follows the Euro Final. I'll need a rubdown after all this.
To be fair, there is still a lot of cycling left. I don't think any smart GC contender is going to burn their matches in the first group of mountains. The Alps are going to have some tough climbs this year.
True that! It's really all about the mountains. But he's still a leach and to be fair, as you say. Then he should be fair. Or perhaps I'm just old fashioned and fairness doesn't win anything these days. I can see it in a breakaway when a few guys go out to set themselves up hoping for a stage win. It may be their one chance of glory. So a big team sends out a rider just to keep in touch and he'll just hang on the back out of rotation.
IIRC Quintana attacked a bit late in last year's Tour, but it was not enough. I think that Froome may have erred in taking the lead with so many stages to go (if memory serves, it's 14 this year compared to 11 last year). Him and his team are going to have spend a lot of extra energy defending the yellow jersey. Could leave him vulnerable to some attacks later on in the alps. Sent from my SM-T550 using Tapatalk
Sounds like a strong possibility that we will not see the summit of Mt. Ventoux tomorrow. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/tou...al&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
Gotta say, watching the Eurosport coverage in the morning, I am digging the Greg Lemond portions that they do. Very interesting. He does a great job narrating and explaining.
Froome attacks with 10k to go with Thomas and Sagan and one of his teammates. Gap opens on peloton. Quintana and sprinters are crying.
the same adage as the one for the day he unexpectedly took yellow: don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today. I actually think it was Sagan that made the attack but Froome pounced on a good chance to put a couple of dozen seconds on his supposed rivals. ballsy with a big stage coming up tomorrow. he lacks all elegance on the bike so he'll never be a favorite of mine but there's no denying he's proving to be a great champion. my conspiracy theory of him carrying Wiggins' dope along with his water I still hold to. I will always remain dubitative of that day on the ventoux; then I suspected dope, now I favor electricity as the culprit. but last year? and this? he's under a microscope, no way he's dodgy. and he's not being carried by anyone else either (no more than any x1 rider anyway) - last year his skymates we're disappointing, and this year (example, the day he tipped over into yellow) he's almost disdained help that was there for him, and did it Frankie's way. like I say, he'll never be in my personal pantheon. but I'd have to be pretty hypocritical not to give him his due and his due is a whole lotta respect.
academic. the physiognomy of the finish was all against him derailleur problem or no derailleur problem. the big story is all the Paris green points he last to Sagan but there was nothing for it. shikata ga nai.
