Cancun FC will play in la liga de desarollo. They will be replacing Cafetaleros de Chiapas. I read somewhere that they were shooting for 18-20 for the first season. 11 are confirmed so far, and they also released a list of 14 more teams "in process" of being confirmed.

Not really. The USL league is more akin to our new Liga de Expansión. LBM is aiming to truly be a competing league with Liga MX (it's even looking to get it's own NT). The closer example I can think off is India. They used to and still have it's own top tier league (the I-League) with pro-rel and everything; however, six years ago a group of businessmen founded the Indian Super League to compete with it. Since then, both leagues have been fighting for ratings, players etc and are both considered as thd joing premier leagues in the country. Anothef example, but from American football, was the old AFL being founded in the sixties to compete with the NFL right until their merger in 1970.
I was all about the cruiserweight division. I think they'll merge in a year or less. FIFA won't support this new league.
taka, Kidman, malenko, Jericho, juventud Guerrera, Mysterio jr... Cruiserweight was where it was at! also they’re trying to affiliate with CONIFA, which will probably be our only World Cup title lol.
As cheap as it feels to have a completely unaffiliated league, it seems like a good idea to me. Liga MX is more focused on building a league of clubs with world class infrastructures, etc. which I understand. Their problem is they never really solved the problem of having a great option for second tier soccer. So a lot of good Mexican talent who are just short of being good enough for at least making the squad of a first division team get lost in Ascenso or Liga Premier, which just based on how many buyouts and franchise rebrandings, etc., it was clear they were never going to be the answer for players who just didn’t make the cut for Liga MX. Anything that raises the worth of players who aren’t in Liga MX (not just in terms of market value but also culturally because honestly who ever cared about Ascenso?) is probably a good thing.
If this league plays talented youngsters and exports them faster. I’ll support it. I’m afraid the FMF will blacklist any player in that league.
