With Lazio's debut in the Intertoto Cup only a matter of weeks away (July 17), Lazio is the first club to enter its training camp. 23 players departed for Trentino on Tuesday. These are:

    8 returning regulars:
Dabo, Di Canio, Rocchi, Manfredini, Muzzi, Zauri, Lequi, Cesar
    +
4 players back from loan spells:
    Inzaghi, Robert, Mea Vitali, Gimelli
    +
    1 new acquisition:
    Fabio Firmani (from Catania)
    +
    10 youth team players

Arrival dates for other big names:
    July 4 - Baronio, Pandev
July 10 - Peruzzi, Liverani, Oddo
TBD - Sereni (recovering from intestinal virus)

At least it seems like Lazio is going to do its best to win a UEFA Cup spot. So far, in the first couple of days of training, the players have mostly been working on fitness drills.

Lazio's first Intertoto opponent is likely to be Belgium club Charleroi, although they first have to defeat Tampere of Finland.

Roberto Muzzi scored 4 goals and Paolo Di Canio 3 goals in a 14-0 victory in training today vs amateur club Gardena at training today. Rocchi added two while Cesar, Inzaghi, Melara, Manfredini (pk) and 17-year-old Greco had one apiece.

First half lineup: De Silvestri, Sannibale, Lequi, Zauri; Melara, Firmani, Dabo, Cesar; Di Canio, Rocchi.

Second half lineup: Ciani, Gimelli, Castroni, Angeletti; Robert, Greco, Mea Vitali, Manfredini; Muzzi, Inzaghi.

Tomorrow, Sereni, Liverani, Pandev and Piccolo arrive at camp.

whats interesting in this lineup is supposedly of the young players De Silvestri is the rising star as a right winger or wing back. If he shows enough, that could be further impetus to sell Oddo now.

The other highly thought of player is Sannibale a center back...perhaps he and Piccolo can make a duo for the future.

Finnish side Tanpere United beat Charleroi 1-0 in their Intertoto second round first leg match today. The aggregate winner after next weekend's return leg in Belgium will take on Lazio in the next round.

Today's training camp for Lazio was dedicated to fitness training.

Bad news for Simone Inzaghi who suffered broken ribs today in a collision with young goalkeeper Santarelli during a scrimmage and had to be taken to the hospital. He's expected to be out 40 days. Bad for Lazio as well since I think they're trying to deal or at least loan him out.

not a big deal to me, they probably arent getting cash or even a player for him....and it seems Pandev/Di Canio will be the second forward with Rocchi as the striker and the clubs seems close to adding Igli Tare as another forward as Muzzi is still on the books.

Defender Cribari looks likely to come on loan as well, I guess a step up from the likes of Siviglia...

Another big win over an amateur team today, 9-1, vs San Marino. It was a struggle for a while (really) as Lazio didn't manage to score until injury time of the first half, when they scored twice through Muzzi and Di Canio. In the second half, Pandev scored a hat trick, while Angeletti scored twice and Liverani and Mea Vitali got one apiece.

First half: Sereni, De Silvesri, Lequi, Piccolo, Zauri, Manfredini, Firmani, Liverani, Cesar, Di Canio, Muzzi.

Second half: Santarelli, Ciani, Sannibale, Castroni, Zaccardi, Melara, Dabo, Mea Vitali, Angeletti, Pandev, Delgado.

Rocchi and Baronio did not play.
