Turkey has to get a good start to the playoffs of Euro 2004. Also, Sergen Yalcin will not be playing in this match due to injury. He will be replaced by Tumer Metin.

    News Update

Alpay and Basturk will not be playing in this match. Alpay is out for a flu. Basturk is out because back pains. That now means that Alpay, Basturk, and Sergen Yalcin will not play. Turkey must win this match...

damn Basturk being hurt is a bummer, but come one we are playing lativia, we should win teh home leg by at least 2, and we can just get a draw in lativia.

who do think should start upfront though? Nihat and Sukur?

Who should start Nihat or Sukur - Nihat of course!
First Latvia will not be able to deal with Nihat's speed and second Sukur is getting too old to last the whole 90 minutes. I do not know why everybody is worried Turkey had to qualify this way for the World Cup and they killed Austria. Prediction Turkey 1 Latvia nil replay Turkey 3 Larvia 1

This is a big dissapiontment. Turkey should have won this match. We better win the next match with a big difference. I still can't believe this...

    Sukur

I agree that Sukur should have played if he is not injured - but I didn't think he should have started. I cannot believe this result - why do we always get our back against the wall - Remember Korea we had to depend on Brazil to beat Costa Rico to qualify for the second round! How does the World Cup third place team lose to a minnow like Latvia?

Please excuse me, my question is not really linked with this game but I didn’t think it was worth a new thread. Which Turkish player was born in Manheim, Germany? I think he’s a defensive midfielder and played( or still plays) for Galatasaray.

    From soccer365.com

"Turkey manager Senol Gunes seemed content to lay their 1-0 Euro2004 playoff defeat in Latvia on everything but the side itself."

Come on now, you can't blame every body else. If you can't beat Latvia you don't deserve to be in a major championship.
