Here's the latest poll question that is posted on the home page of the wusa.com site along with the current results: I think that one could reasonably argue that Boston, San Diego, and New York did better than Carolina in the draft, but I think it is ridiculous that the Freedom have almost 7 times as many votes as the Courage.
Maybe it was a popularity thing...or maybe it was trick question. Not who came out of the draft with the best players, but who made the best of the picks they had. Washington had very little to work with and SD got Wagner (and Latham).
The question is 'who made the most of it'. Freedom, having nothing higher than a #15 pick, did far more with what they had than anyone else.
I think that you are making a valid interpretation of the poll question, but unfortunately I don't think that most who voted in this poll for Washington actually paid all that much attention to the players the Freedom ended up trading for and drafting. IMO Lori Lindsey was a very good acquisition and trading Anne Makinen for Rebekah McDowell and a 3rd round pick looks like another good move that will likely help both the Freedom and the Charge. However, for the Freedom to have done "more with what they had than anyone else," I really think that Missy Gregg will have to make a significant contribution for the Freedom and at this point in time no one is sure if she is even going to be ready to play at all this season.

Washington 48% San Diego 21% Carolina 7% Boston 5% San Jose 2% Atlanta 4% New York 6% Philadelphia 7% -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As always my beloved CHARGE is in the bottom again! gues what, it's better to be in the botton in the pre-season than in the end of the season..
I just think it's a matter of ballot stuffing by the young Freedom PTH's that lurk the WUSA.com boards.
What? OK, I'm usually good at figuring out acronyms, but PTH's? What's that stand for? Maybe it's because my brain isn't working too well today. A lot on my mind in the last 24 hours.
PTH'ers I thought I was good at figuring out acronyms as well until I discovered BigSoccer. PTH had me confused for awhile as well. I was wondering if "pony tailed hooligans" was only used on BigSoccer, but believe or not the top soccer journalist in the San Diego area, Mark Zeigler, actually used "pony tailed hooligans" in one of his WUSA articles for the San Diego Union-Tribune.
