TCS: Hard Done By http://www.mlsnet.com/content/03/tcs1212.html The title is very revealing,so i placed the R just in case someone clicks from the menu at bigsoccer.com..........
I screwed up my VCR settings so I don't have the game but I just saw the highlights of the game on FSW Report, and I thought it was a good PK call. Moor whacked that guy pretty damn good. Maybe the 4 minutes of injury time was excessive - I can't really speak to that since I didn't see the game - but the PK seems legit to me. My .02 anyway.
I'm not sure whether it was better to have seen the game or not. On the one hand, it was one of the more enjoyable games to watch as a US fan - we played amazingly well against a good opponent, showed a lot of skill, attacked with style, etc. - but on the other hand, it was one of the more gut wrenching losses I can remember seeing as a US fan -- picture being a Red Sox fan watching Pedro Martinez blow a perfect game on the last pitch to the Yankees in an ALCS game 7. I still feel sick about it. Anyway, people who put their soccer watching in the hands of an antiquated, last century device like the VCR deserve what they get.
Seriously, I just don't get people who plead poverty in our credit card world - a good dvr is a necessity. Speaking of sigs, I'm still really bummed I can't use that "snowball's chance in hell" line by the US fan who thought some of us were fools for thinking we had a chance.
Could you guys please talk to my wife. I told her I needed TIVO, she says "we have to pay for the house" I plead "Tivo" with sheepish eyes, she retorts "The dishwasher died" I beg on my knees "Tivo please please me", she mocks "its TV, you should do other things, like clean up, exercise, talk to your son" I've been married 19 years to the best wife in the world.
My husband has laid down the law - no more monthly subscriptions, meaning I'm out of luck when it comes to TIVO and XM Radio.
I had to talk my wife into TIVO--she didn't quite understand what it was until we got it. Now she says she couldn't live without it. With a 21 month old, it is a godsend, especially for thoses really early mornings -- she can put on any number of Bob the Builders, Sesame Streets, Wiggles, Bear in the Big Blue House, etc. on, while she finishes sleeping on the couch until a more reasonable hour. AND, I can get my soccer whenever I want it...
1. Tivo has lifetime subscriptions so you don't have to pay monthly fees. 2. My advice - buy it anyway and if your spouse watches any amount of tv at all, they'll forgive you before you can say "season pass" -- or if they leave you, maybe they weren't really right for you in the first place. Anyway, you'll have Tivo either way.
Hmmm, how to help out. . .(stroking chin), I know! (snaps fingers, hand about shoulder high), how about buying her a Tivo for Christmas?!
US vs. Argentina I'm sorry but I am feeling a little bit bitter about this loss. Yes, I realize that the US should have put it away late in the second half and I don't think that U-20 players are good enough to play bunker defense at this level for 30 minutes. However, there are 3 things that stick in my craw about the game 1. That penalty call was weak even if it had been the other way around. No self respecting ref that is worth his salt would have made that call that late in a game much less in OT. 2. On the tying goal the player was offside. Maybe not clearly and I can see how the linesman may have missed it but it WAS offside! 3. Finally, where in the hell did that ref find 4 minutes of injury time? There were no big injuries, no players sent off and no controversial calls that would have warranted 4 minutes. I'm just going to chalk it up to FIFA's poor decision to not use a more neutral referee. Furthermore, congrats to the US players for showing some class and not attacking the ref or the linesmen for obvious screw-ups, but taking the loss with some dignity. Oh yes, and congrats to Argentina for pulling out the win because despite the bitter tone of this post, they played their Argentine butts off to win.
Just do the sensible thing and buy me a TIVO. Usually I'm pretty good with VCR settings. First one I've blown in a good long while.
Why don't you buy it and when he comes home say. "look what my boyfriend bought me!!" He won't be think about the TIVO at all.
