Those are some tremendous photos, and that stadium looks like it is going to be absolutely awesome. As a DC United fan, let me say that this looks like exactly what every soccer fans dreams his stadium will be. Kudos to AEG for building it and THANK YOU to Home Depot for kicking in millions of dollars just for naming rights. -Tron
take a look at pics 14 and 15... 14 for the closeup of a broken pair of seats 15 depicts a series of broken seats... at an angle going down and away from the place where the picture was taken... although it appears to be 100% up down, if you were standing there (angle of the picture taker distorts the actual placement of the seats) (edited note: pic 16 clearly shows it is directly up and down) i wonder if something fell or what? number 14 number 15 are those seats green? i can't tell... colorblind (make sense for galaxy games) and one other thing... how come we never see any workers in these pics... are they all standing behind the picture taker? is the place being built by mythical elves at night, when everyone else is asleep, and this is simply the documentation of an elf-hunter? -jim
As far as the "broken" seats, I would suspect that it is just missing parts from shipment or something along those lines. The seats are green. The reason you don't see anyone working is because the images are taken by an employee who is not supposed to be taking them for the net so she takes the pix when everyone is gone. On the LARS site it mentioned she would not be taking more pics in fear for her job.
As far as the "broken" seats go i believe they are probably using that row of seats as some kind of marker...maybe the plan on painting the team name on the seats (which would be really cool) or for some other construction purpose..if something had fallen it would have bent or broken the top parts of the seats as well not just a missing screw on either side. anyways the stadium looks great...all teams in MLS will be very jealous when they play their first game there.
Don't know about elves, but how many people is this thing gonna seat..... it looks nice and cozy to me. Oh and for grins and giggles lets hear how many elves this thing seats too............ let's see Keebler elves or the kick ass Lord of the Rings kind.......I think I'll go with keebler and say 200,000. Although those Golden armored elves from the Twin towers might just fit in well with all the rest of you west caost looneys.
No one seems to know the answer to the capacity issue. Even the stadium supervisor was wishy washy on that issue. She stated that this next year it would be something like 22-24K "depending on flexible seating", but the flexible seating issue has never been explained to the public. The end with no seats is planned for furture expansion and the figure when that happens is supposed to be 27K. Some have put that as the figure for this year but after hearing what the stadium manager said, I doubt that. I don't expect to see any terrace type seating in the unused end as some have mentioned, for safety reasons.
Oh..sorry.. It has been stated that 312,883 elves can attend but only for USA vs Mexico matches and they must root for the USA.
Good! Tell them to bring those little cookies with the chocolate stripes on one side..... and the milk too!
I love that menu myself!! I can't wait to see what the elves do the first time the Mexican fans throw urine on them.. Should be interesting. Elves can be very evil at times.
See i told ya we shouldn't count out those ass kicking, gold armour wearing ones........ think they could handle a few thousand Mexi's?
As long as they just get to the ones throwing the urine around and other stuff at the US supporters. The rest of the Mexican fans are welcome to watch the USA win again.
Wait! I have the solution! We need an elf to be present ON the field so as to make sure the mexi Nats don't get up to no good again........ hmmm lets see COBI JONES! Worked in korea, should work better in LA!
I might just have some sort of answer to this "flexible seating " thing! I was at the US womens game in San Diego (boring, although Aly Wagner is going to be a huge star). I was standing in line at the porta-potties and I overheard two people talking just off to the side. One was a "Lou" (possibly llew llewellyn? Balding with blond hair. Does anyone know what he looks like?) and the other was a "Brian" Anyway, "Lou/Llew" conngratulated "Brian" on his new position at the NTC and they got into a discussion about seats and "Brian" said that there will only be seats on the sidelines and that the corners and behind the goal were bleachers! Bummer, I want a seat! Linda Bolton Wanderers 0 Fulham 0
There's an explanation of the flexible seating now at the LARS site. They will be putting bleachers in the end that has no seats when needed for an additional 2 thousand or so.. Eventually, that end will have permanant seating when expansion is needed. http://www.lariotsquad.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi?s=3e24df785a94ffff;act=ST;f=10;t=78
Bleachers?! Well, that sucks sour lemons, but Riot Squad wasn't planning on sitting anyway. The other fans however...
