someone on the board on the Burn web-site says Burn to sign Irish guy who plays at Everton in the EPL...Name is Steve Higgins. Anybody know anything??
I follow Everton pretty closely and I've never heard of a Steve Higgins playing there. I double checked Everton's player rosters, 1st team and reserve, and didn't run across his name either. So, unless this player is really obscure, either someones got the name wrong or the club wrong.
talking about Everton... I saw that Joe Max Moore's english work visa expired. Does anybody think he would be a fit here in Dallas? Would he be enough to quench the thirst of those fans clamoring for Earnie Stewart? I have not made up my mind about how these two would fit into the Red and Black. La locura rojinegra
Re: talking about Everton... With the wealth of talent both at forward and midfield that the Burn have, it's hard to see them getting either Moore or Stewart to fit in. You'd have to figure that either one of those guys would expect to walk in and start, and Dallas could not necessarily offer either of them that expectation...
You would think that Earnie and Joe-Max would be better than any mid-fielder or forward we have - but honestly, I don't want to displace any of our reguar starters (including Ronnie O) for either of those two. But I know I'm biased. On 2nd thought - I would put Earnie or Joe-Max up front with Kreis and let Bobby and EJ sub in. But that's it.
In the odd chance that Joe-Max comes back to the USA, he'll be playing for the Revs, and no one else. Earnie will not play for anyone but the galaxitives. So........there you go.
maybe your right, he could go to LA. But the only way they would be able to fit him in the salary cap is if the BURN gives them some of there's. Just like Jeffries helped out CHICAGO last year. Thats brings up this question. Is it right for DALLAS to help their RIVALS? That dosen't seem right!
We got our first round draft choice for the salary cap help we gave them last year. I think we got the better end of that deal. They used the cap room to get an older semi-talented player who had retired. We get the fourth pick in this years draft.
I don't think that's goog for the fan's. If we take the game seriously, teams should at least do the same.
Okay, you got me confused :>) Chitcago still thought they could win a championship so they made this trade. I think they were seriously trying to win a championship. They figured when the injured players came back they could make a serious championship run. I think they might have too except that they just got another whole slew of injures again.
If that's not all hype, sounds like he could be really good. He must really want to come to the states to give up the kind of money that he would get on the first team at Everton, if the "Best kept secret since Wayne Rooney" line is to be believed. Of course it also states "asked for release".. If he's as good as it sounds, they may not give it.
I certainly think it should be taken with a grain of salt... it is from an agent after all. Or someone claiming to be an agent... If we get more confirmation I will pass it along.
I checked the lineups for the Everton reserves/U21's, and the U-21 teams for Ireland and N. Ireland and no "Stephen Higgins" shows up. This looks to be one of those wacky internet-based rumors (remember Graziani to Walsall, anyone?). But perhaps we've got his name wrong. http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/02-03/reserves.asp http://www.uefa.com/Competitions/Under21/Teams/Team=64/index.html http://www.uefa.com/Competitions/Under21/Teams/Team=63/index.html
It's looking like a hoax to me.. I did a check on google and I can't find a single mention of this person so unless the name is wrong, he is not an even slightly known footballer.
U21 IRELAND CALL UP? The article on 3rd degree also said this guy also just recently earned his first cap for Ireland's U21 squad. I went to Irish national team website and checked the rosters from the Senior team all the way down to the U16 team and there is no player named Stephen Higgins, nor is there a player that plays club ball for Everton. Where did 3rd degree get this quote?
false rumor It does sound false, but would someone really make up the quote too? 3rd degree seems to be pretty in touch with the ongoings of the Burn, so I tend to believe him. Maybe I'll send him an email and ask him directly.
I received confirmation from Burn GM Andy Swift today. Stephen Higgins is a real player and will be coming in for a trial in the new year. The info on my web site I got on Higgins is from his Agent. http://www.3rddegree.net/
confirmed Thanks 3rd Degree. It is just weired that no one can find anything about this guy on the internet. I knew you had connections with the burn though, so I'm satisfied. Thanks again.
I found a small link with some information on him but he is elusive. http://www.fai.ie/NR/exeres/72927671-B44D-432D-8480-125A384873A8.htm
I guess when it was stated "the best kept secret since Wayne Rooney" they sure meant it.. I've seen AYSO players with more mention on the net.
