Latest FIFA Rankings ! 1 Brazil 855 points 2 France 829 3 Spain 767 4 Argentina 750 5 Mexico 746 6 England 745 7 Holland 744 8 Turkey 743 9 Czech Rep 736 9 Germany 736 11 USA 731 12 Italy 726
Well, from the ranking perspective, it looks discouraging but the fact is that we haven't performed particularly well as of late in international competition. Besides, ups and downs will always happen and it is a very dynamic system. Even if Team USA did nothing 'bad', other team results can affect our ranking.
To: Morpheus1271 USA ranking will probably go further down since USNMT isn't playing till next year. However, European teams have 1 game each for Euro qualifiers. Also, I think in South America there is 1 game each in October for the 10 teams for 2006 WCQ. No action = no points +/-
Wrong. No action = fewer points. Each month, 1/12 of the results get aged, so you'll have fewer points. The USA, Mexico, and Brasil got a big boost from the Gold Cup. It's now Europe, South America, and Africa's turn for big matches with Euro and WCQ matches.
That would only be true if you played one match a month (I think). A result doesn't lose value until it's at least 12 months old. You are correct, however, that nations from Europe, SA, and Afirca will start gaining more points because they are having more and more valuable matches.
Ahead of Italy - what's wrong with that? I say being 11th is just fine. The only team you could argue should NOT be in front of us is Mexico, but they won the Gold Cup and we got 3rd. So - even that is a stretch.
Yeah, i just don't see the big deal about the ranking. sure, everyone would like to say that you are RANKED number 1, but what does it really mean? Is there ANY silverware in the world that is dependent on ranking? Hey, this isn't college football we are talking about. All the winners trophies are actually played for on the field. We should be worried much less about ranking, and much more about the development of talent in the US.
new fifa rankings---a reply. These are the same old foolish Arg and Bra plus Europe stuff. What is different except the US dropping 2. ????? Nicr to see Engerland hanging in aboot 5 though... But where are the Ticos or -as much as we hate them-Korea...(North Korea that is HAH.) They may be accurate but who gives a flying fadooley??? On a serioud note where are Turkey?? Did they drop a spot ???Well ... (knock at door.)
The rankings are not very accurate most of the time i feel. I mean the Czech Republich were 2nd come world cup time and they didn't qualify. Strange
Rankings and last game v England 1 Brazil..... 855 <<---Won.. 2-1 England 2 France..... 829 <<---Drew. 1-1 England 3 Spain...... 767 <<---Lost. 0-3 England 4 Argentina.. 750 <<---Lost. 0-1 England 5 Mexico..... 746 <<---Lost. 0-4 England 6 England.... 745 7 Holland.... 744 <<---Drew. 1-1 England 8 Turkey..... 743 <<---Lost. 0-2 England 9 Czech Rep.. 736 <<?? 9 Germany.... 736 <<---Lost. 1-5 England
Re: Re: Latest FIFA Rankings ! That was quite awhile ago wasn't it? I mean Guardiola was still part of the Spanish squad then. Still, I'd like to see Spain and England play again.
Re: Re: Latest FIFA Rankings ! If rankings were dependant on Englands results then Australia would be above us.........just as well then. These FIFA rankings don't mean a thing, I mean does anyone honestly believe the USA are a better team than Italy?
Re: Re: Re: Latest FIFA Rankings ! shhh.... No, not even the Americans think the US is better than Italy. And everyone knows that the FIFA rankings don't mean anything.
Re: Re: Re: Latest FIFA Rankings ! I think the better thing to say is "does anyone honestly believe that Italy doesn't belong in the top 10?" Don't pick on the USA specifically. It's not like we're not right about #11 or so, quality-wise.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Latest FIFA Rankings ! I don't believe I was picking on the USA, it's my opinion that they shouldn't be in the same company as the teams in the top 15. I don't know how they got to 11th position after losing to Brazils under 23 team in the Gold Cup.
I reckon FIFA should just give everyone grades, for example. ..A | Brazil ..A | France A/B | Argentina A/B | Italy ..B | Czech Republic ..B | England ..B | Turkey ..B | Netherlands ..B | Spain ..B | Germany ..B | Portugal ..C | Denmark ..C | Croatia ..C | Romania ..C | Russia ..C | Republic Of Ireland ..C | Wales ..C | Cameroon ..C | Paraguay ..C | Uruguay ..C | United States ..C | Mexico ..C | Poland ..C | Ukraine ..C | Bulgaria ..C | Greece C/D | Iceland C/D | Austria C/D | Slovakia C/D | Senegal C/D | Slovenia C/D | Ecuador C/D | Hungary C/D | South Africa C/D | Switzerland C/D | Morocco ..D | Serbia ..D | Costa Rica ..D | Japan ..D | Finland
who's going to have the privilege of propping up this table as a grade Z?, Wales seem to of escaped it, perhaps Scotland
