All- Wednesday, Oct 15th First off we would like to thank everyone who turned out on Wednesday for the open cup final. A big "Thank You" to everyone who either got to Hale's or tailgaited in Jersey to stuff the section. We love you members, we do... We appreciated many of you showing up, bringing friends, making the effort to come out and have a good time with us. In a perfect world we would have won the game, but we still had a great time and you guys were all a big part of that. First timers, old timers, thanks again for all of your support, it was a great thing to see. On to tomorrow: Saturday, October 18th It is the last home game of the seaon. We are hosting New England, the team directly behind us in the standings. We're 4 points ahead in the race for second place, and since they've beaten and tied us this year we need to win one of the next two to lock up our seeding. We are asking that everyone please pack the section to send our team into the playoffs on a high note. We had a great section for the open cup final, let's try to carry that momentum into the playoffs. We realize the loss in the cup final took a lot out of our fans, but this team has shown the ability to get off the mat all year. Hopefully they can turn on the jets and roll over New England. They certainly have it coming, and does anyone want to miss Mathis- Franchino, Round II? Game starts at 7:30pm, first sarcastic hymn of the Rocky theme directed at Joey Franchino to start at 7:35pm. Saturday, October 25th The 2003 season finale will be in New England at 4pm. We will not be running a bus, but there will be an away match viewing at Nathan Hale's, 6 Murray Street in downtown Manhattan. There will be drink specials, good food and we will finalize the details of the playoff bus trip, including sign ups. Please make it out to support the bar if you can. As those of you who were there on Wednesday can attest, the place can get hopping with Metro fans if enough of us show up. It is a fun place, and the only bar in town that supports our team and our club. We ask that you please carve a couple of hours out of your Saturday to make it down if you can. Saturday, November 1st In all likelihood, we will be running a bus trip on this date for an away playoff game, as we look to be playing in either New England or DC should we finish in second place. More details to follow, but keep this date open. We'll post back when we know more. Saturday, November 8th If we, as mentioned, finish second, we'd play host to the second game of the home and home first round conference semifinal. As always, we need to have as much support as possible, especially for a home playoff game. Please try to make it out to the park to what will likely be the last home game of the year, period (you know, before we beat Chicago and then San Jose in MLS Cup). So, that's what's coming up over the next couple of weeks. Please let us know if you have any questions by sending an e-mail to empiresc@verizon.net. Again, thank you for all of your support.
Re: Re: Last Wednesday, Saturday, next Saturday, the two Saturdays after that. Yes, the Revs are the first round opponent regardless of the outcome this weekend. The result this weekend affects seeding only. The Metros must win to take second place, a tie or loss results in third place. If the Metros win and take 2nd place, then they play at Foxboro on Sunday Nov 2nd at 4:00 p.m. and host the Revs on Saturday Nov 8th at 5:00 p.m. If the Metros don't win and take 3rd place, then they host the Revs on Saturday Nov 1st at 5:00 p.m. and play af Foxboro on Sunday Nov 9th at 4:00 p.m.
