If they are a new expansion team for 2013 like a leaked story has claimed, what available stadiums are there for them to play in? The article also claims they have been playing for several years in Los Angelas,CA, but not under what name or any other history of them.
What leaked story? An NPSL team posts on its (poorly-written) website that they're going to be playing a friendly against the mystery "established" team (which "has been playing for several years in Los Angles, CA"), that has not only Beckenbauer but Pele, too, on its board of directors, and all of a sudden it's "a leaked story?" As if it has credibility? Enough credibility to start the speculation machine? Holy cow.
Replace "leaked story" with "website", and yes, a poorly written one! After a quick search, there doesn't appear to be any viable stadiums they would play in if this even is true. Sam Boyd in the Las Vegas valley is too big at 40,000 capacity and the others are baseball stadiums.
Let's not forget Carlos Alberto, he's on the board too http://lasvegashighrollerssoccer.com/board-of-directors I'm sure Giorgio is with them in spirit
Are you suggesting a NASL team wouldn't play in a Baseball Stadium? honestly, Cashman Field seems completely reasonable..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cashman_Field https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&...=us&ei=v6JpUObvNoT29gTp1oGgCw&ved=0CB0Q8gEwAA That being said, I'm still not convinced that this story is legit....
Playing in a baseball stadium is one thing. Sharing said stadium with a AAA team for much of the year...problematic.
Maybe they think Sam Boyd must be cheap if the Locos can still afford to play there. Then again, we're still not entirely sure they exist, are we?
Thing is, we know who the people are behind the UFL, and they do have money (even if they struggle to actually pay people with it at times). We have no idea of the financial wherewithal of any of the people mentioned as being involved in this ethereal Las Vegas team. And that's the problem, because team owners have to meet with USSF before they get a team.
The locos? They still around, UFL is on CBS sports now. Or if you mean the Highrollers, then no I think is fake. I did Twit NASL about this, no answer yet.
Well they did win their first game in front of 2,500 fans. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_UFL_season#Schedule http://www.lvrj.com/sports/fast-start-lifts-locos-in-opener-171479521.html
These guys no longer say they're going to be a new expansion team anywhere, but they do still list Pele and Beckenbauer on their Board of Directors. Apparently their owner is a real estate guy and player agent.
Astonishing that they won't be coming to the NASL. They are such a polished sort. Their keeper is wearing an old Liverpool shirt as his keeper jersey? That is something I do in my beer league. Except not a Liverpool shirt. I wear something classy.
http://lasvegashighrollerssoccer.com/players-staff/first-team A few of their players are 1 year old ?
No NASL Highrollers, La Vegas seems to be going for a MLS expansion franchise http://www.soccerbyives.net/2014/08/towards-securing-stadium.html
Current rumor is that USL interested investors are already making plans. If there is a NASL group, no rumors have creeped out yet.
It looks increasing like USL might have a team in Vegas before NASL. If there is really a "race" going on, I doubt it.
Sometimes it doesn't seem like the NASL is even trying. I understand they want to have the best quality expansion teams possible, but there is such a thing as being too picky.
