Does anyone know whats going on with the Legends , The web site is a completely blank page . I am not sure if they are working on it or if they shut it down. http://lasvegaslegends.com/ lasvegaslegends.com. Learn how you can get this domain »|See more domains like this ». On this website it says that the LLC was dissolved. But if they are answering the phones then they are still around . http://www.nevadacompanies.org/las-vegas-indoor-llc
While you were grasping at straws did you see this on the same page? http://www.nevadacompanies.org/las-vegas-legends-indoor-soccer-ll
So basicly they just changed the LLC name. he did say the team would return in 2016 http://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/soccer/legends-promise-return-2016
Lets be clear. The MASL is not in a position of strength. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come for the them. Unfortunately, they have a lot of weak teams. In fact, between the MASL and the IPL, the stronger teams (and stronger owners) are in the IPL. That debate was settled a while ago. I could be wrong, but this could explain why the MASL are in talks with the resigned IPL teams. Makes sense to try to get the strong teams back.
Well a couple of points ....that arena is a real arena with real costs, IIRC they played a schedule with games at the rec center and the casino last year .....changing an LLC in midstream is rarely something successful businesses do .....operating a business without an LLC (or other supporting corporate documemts) is illegal .....forgetting to renew a website is either a very small company mistake, or a very large companies mistake. Small companies usually don't have a FT Web person, the employee(s) are too busy and take their eyes off of the ball, or run out of money to renew. Large companies sometimes are disorganized or have a Byzantium structure where nobody knows to do it. Your Web hosting company will send you NUMEROUS reminders. I am fairly confident I know what size company the Legends are. .......changing an LLC is one way to try and avoid debts. Don't want to see anything bad happen to the Legends but this does look a little like other teams we've seen in the past. I do know MISL found out the San Diego Sockers were dead when they called the team office and the phone was disconnected, then Raj Kalhra also had his cell stop working.
Eh, gotta refute this point a bit, if only out of pedantic IT worker's annoyance over details. This is more of a "don't have a dedicated IT department" issue for most companies. Or at least, didn't have one when the domain was originally registered. 99% of the time what happens is when they are scrambling to get everything into place for a new site or company, when drawing up paperwork or immediately afterwards, someone will say "Bill, grab that domain before some bot tries to squat it!" Bill then goes, puts in his own work address (instead of the proper thing to do, which is to use a shared group address that links to a group of employees) and everything is well and good for the time. Later, Bill leaves the company for any number of reasons, after a couple months his email inbox is turned off and eventually all those emails your web hosting company auto sends you start bouncing, so no one notices until the website DNS gets swapped over to your webhost saying, "Hey dummy, you forgot to renew!" It's really not a big deal, slightly embarrassing for a company but it happens pretty regularly to companies of all sizes and as long as your registrar doesn't allow some domain squatter to snap it up to try and blackmail you, it's usually only a day or two downtime. Of course, if someone does squat your domain and you don't want to pay you can always easily win a dispute with ICANN but that takes time and it's often cheaper/easier just to pay the squatters, unfortunately. Fun aside, one of the most profitable targets for domain squatters is church websites. Not too surprising since one of the tactics used by squatters is to put up adult themed ads to try and scare the target into swift action. So, your claim is that the league without enough teams to have anything close to a real season has the upper hand on the group of teams who can quite easily have an entire season without those teams? Are you high? If the IPL doesn't do SOMETHING they are going to lose an entire season (unless they play a 4 team season but pretty sure we can all agree that's a 'yikes' thing and might well be worse than sitting out). Missing a season in indoor soccer is usually the end of the road for most teams. The Blast might survive but dollars to donuts say the other 3 would either have to close up and maybe look at reforming later or just calling it quits. If Hale is negotiating with MASL it's because Hale has failed to come up with enough teams to form a viable league and he's coming back with his tail between his legs. That's not a position of power, that's trying to salvage a horrible miscalculation.
Oh, and for the record, now that I look at it, their domain name registration appears to be fine until 2018, according to ICANN. Looks like they are hosting the site through GoDaddy and something has gone sideways. If you turn off your adblocker you'll see that godaddy has the domain "parked" (ie: nothing valid on the servers there for the website). So, either they're trying to switch their website hosting and something has gone wrong and they can't figure it out, or they have deleted their entire website, either on accident or on purpose.
This is the way I understand it , The MASL's Commissioner called the IPL. They have been talking and the IPL wants to remain its own franchises. I have heard ( Rumors ) that the MASL shot that down last week. The IPL has 2 more teams they are working with that will join the IPL I am not sure how they play in the mix just yet.
They have 2 more teams like they had 10 AHL teams champing at the bit to join "if someone would just. start. a. franchise. league!" In reality they have nothing and are trying to find any leverage they can to convince the MASL to take them back and so they can have a season. This is kind of like the drug addict kid who stole his mom's jewelry trying to convince her to let him come back home. And the IPL teams are not offering the MASL any more than what they took from them in the first place.
How about the Baltimore Sun article from MAY 3rd saying the IPL will have 8-10 teams and that it will "feature teams throughout North America"? This is per credible sources like Ed Hale and Kevin Healey. What I see from the IPL: one solid team (Blast), another team (Ambush) that can sell seats but can't win, a team (Heat) that can't sell seats nor win, and an expansion team (Tropics) that has proved nothing. Any IPL expansion team announced between now and November, per indoor soccer history, will be the equivalent of the Norfolk Sharxx, PA Roar, Mass Twisters or Chicago Riot. To quote someone else: SHAME.
But even two more teams won't get the IPL to "8 to 10 teams" as promised by Hale. Where are all the other MASL defectors? Where are the AHL (or NHL, if you believe Ed) owners wanting to jump on board? Again, Hale completely over-estimated what he could accomplish with his new league. Instead of playing nice and working WITHIN the system to make sure the proper (i.e. legal) changes were made within the MASL, he jumped the gun and now has to deal with the mess he has created.
The MASL is hot garbage as far as professional sports leagues go. Who knows if the IPL is/was going to be an improvement, but I like the 'franchise ' concept. If the Ambush somehow end back up in MASL, I don't know if I would be excited enough to invest in season tickets again. How much bush league stuff can a fan endure from a clueless MASL?
As a fan, what do you like about it, the tax benefits? Do you like that Ed keeps saying it like it means something? Tell me.
If the Ambush were a "franchise" concept franchise you would buy season tickets no problem. It doesn't matter their record over the past several years is absolutely dismal? This doesn't factor into your equation at all?
Yes, the losing record of the Ambush is also a factor, at least equally to the league stuff. Even as IPL I don't know if I would buy tickets to every game. It seems like either league is not destined for long term stability because the sport of indoor soccer is in a state of continuous decline. All it seems like with the usual league drama is rearranging deck chairs on a slowly sinking Titanic. I guess as a fan the thrill is starting to go. Not just one thing or issue. I have other sports and interests. I wish both leagues well, even the MASL. Just not sure it is worth it anymore.
I am not a tax lawyer but one basic benefit of a franchise model is reduction of liability if some other franchise pulls a Dion Earl, or fails to pay for worker compensation insurance, fails to pay their players and staff for most of a season, etc. There is never a total shield from litigation but the franchise structure makes a lot of sense in a sport where teams are often unstable. But hey, 'that is above my pay grade'.
There are, at this moment, exactly four teams in the IPL. One has gone 3-36 the last two seasons. One has never ever played a game. One has gone 17-43 the last three seasons. And is owned by the guy who owns the team that has never ever played a game. Tell me again how the stronger teams are in the IPL? You saying something is not settling a debate. You saying something into your echo chamber with Guy Who Can't Write English backing you up is not settling a debate. Why would they want Harrisburg back? Why would they want Florida, which they never had, "back?" Why would they want Ed Hale back after he spent the second half of the year bashing them and, quite frankly, his team's success doesn't add anything to the overall league? You will spin absolutely frigging anything to make it seem as though whatever the Blast's agenda is, that's the One True Way. You're wrong. You're always wrong.
