Trivia: did you know the 3 lions are in fact leopards? The common myth is that the 12th century artist who drew the Royal Banner of England didn't know what lions looked like, so he drew leopards, but it goes much further back to France where "passive" lions were known as "leopards".

Living in Southern Utah means I would have a MLS club 3 hours north and just under 3 hours south. Hope this happens.
UK press have now run with the story: https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sp...LsiJOb3Mx-0UMP4eSpEwE9RnOM33GBXjOluGVGRStoYpg
that explains a lot. Their nicknames are the Villans so they want to add an "i" and call LV the Villians
Still would rather them name the team, the Las Vegas Quicksilvers as they haad a cool name and logo.....
Villains, Lights, or Quicksilver would be one of the best named teams in the league. Lights is kind of meh, but it’s a thousand times better than just Las Vegas FC. However, I would lovvvvve if Las Vegas adopted an edgy name like Villains or Quicksilver. Please just show some originality.
Lights is the best name of the three, BY A LOT. But, LV fans probably won't have any say in the name, colors, or crest design, so they'll take what they get and have to like it. At least they get a SSS. I'd rather have LVs situation than Charlotte's.
actually I don't really care what name they choose as long as they keep the llama and the Elvis impersonator
ESPN: Is it a prerequisite that in places like Vegas and Phoenix, the team is going to have to have an indoor stadium given the weather? And to what degree does that change the calculus of an expansion bid in either one of those cities? DG: Yes [an indoor venue is required]. We're very focused, we are really bullish about the market and we're convinced that the key to success in a market like Las Vegas is a temperature-controlled stadium environment, which obviously would be quite costly. So it speaks to the belief in Major League Soccer that any ownership group would see the value of engaging at that level of investment. https://www.espn.com/soccer/major-l...ks-expansionlas-vegasgamblingliga-mx-and-more
ESPN: Are you talking any other prospective ownership groups for Vegas because I know that some have flitted in and out of the picture. DG: I've never confirmed anything with Wes [Edens, co-owner of Premier League team Aston Villa and NBA champions Milwaukee Bucks, as well as one of the co-owners behind the Las Vegas bid]. I think there continue to be discussions taking place in the marketplace. We've yet to reach the finish line, but we're encouraged by the level of interest from investors. https://www.espn.com/soccer/major-l...ks-expansionlas-vegasgamblingliga-mx-and-more
I wonder if the California bonds for the proposed speed rail project Brightline West (which have been pushed to 2022) may be dictating the timeline here. Trying to read the tea leaves a little bit, looks like Edens and his investment company Fortress are looking at the same plot of land (Warm Springs and Blue Diamond, just South of the strip) for the speed rail station and the stadium.
The air conditioning systems in Qatar can lower the temperature significantly for both fans and players without the need to play indoors. They use solar panels and recycle the cold air. Add other techniques like roof design and light colors and the inventor reckons it will feel between 65 and 75 degrees in the World Cup stadiums.
Why don’t we have temperature controlled stadiums for Minnesota, Toronto, Montreal, etc. I’d rather be hot than play in the freezing cold.
