we briefly talked about this song in the 'what are you listening to' thread. i said that i thought maybe the chorus was based on 'rapper's delight' - it seems pretty obvious to my ears. since the song is about a spanish guy who has a favorite english-language song but can't pronounce its words very well, i think it might be possible.
Just heard it for the (I think) second time. Very funny. Not sure if it has "macarena" potential for most oddly successful latino dance hit, but it's close. Of course, we now have to work on a Metro version of the song for games.
I just put the "Footix" remix (bigger drums, of course) of the Spanish version on Kazaa and it was uploaded a few times quickly. Look for it on your local file-sharing service .
We really need to start a Bigsoccer Members Mash-up/Remix thread for when we crank out something. That'll give me a good reason to do something with this Acidmusic program I've had here for a while and done nothing with.
I went looking for this on Kazaa Lite (remember, The Official File-Sharing Software Of The BigSoccer.com MVBM Board) and it's nowhere to be found. There is Thong Song, Redemption Song, The Sweater Song, The Song Remains The Same, The Asshole Song, The Lumberjack Song, The Greatest Song In The World, and This Is Not A Love Song, but no Ketchup Song. Alternate spellings, perhaps?
I just got it off LimeWire a couple of minutes ago. I see the potential for vast overexposure of this song.
Obie may have been looking for the more proper version, "Catsup" . The song is absolutely terrible and incredibly catchy all at the same time. A Macarena for the new millennium, as if we needed one. I fully expect Jamison to unveil his Metro Ketchup dance on the roadtrip bus to NE this weekend.
Switching from Kazza Lite 1.7.1 to 1.7.2.... Ah, there it is. I get the feeling I'm going to hate this song.
Puffy Ami Yumi + Sugarhill Gang = this song. Speaking of Puffy Ami Yumi, "Boogie Woogie #5" is my pick for single of the year. Much catchier than that piece of garbage. Also, I love the fact that when I searched for "ketchup" now, the first thing that came up was "Metronomic Underground" by Stereolab -- from the classic album Emporer Tomato Ketchup, of course.
Blatant attempt at scoring a Jerseyite's signature When I play The Ketchup Song on the jukebox in Rutt's Hut, will I get a dirty look?
like I said in another thread, any song where the chorus is made up gibberish gets my vote. Asereje is lots of fun. The middle eastern feel of the song is the best part though. Middle eastern and indian music is very popular right now in the southern cone of South America. Talking about middle eastern pop music......habibi dah by Hisham Abbas and Tamally Maak by Amr Diab kick some more boooo-teey.
Bro, you think "Boogie Woogie #5" is better than Asereje? What are you smoking? Boogie Woogie is a good song if you can stand the first 2 minutes......
I think it's catchy as all hell. The Ketchup Song doesn't do anything for me - I did not wake up humming it, as Footix had predicted.
Okay, Footix, I could kill you. I downloaded this song yesterday, and within 3 plays it got stuck in my head, only to re-appear at work today in the middle of a conference call. Here I am, trying to listen to the guy babble on about something and all I can do is hum the beat to a song I can't sing in a language I don't speak with words I can't understand. Uggh. I can't get it out! It is catchy, if nothing else.
Agreed. Admittedly, I've only heard it once (despite the fact that it's at the top of the charts over here), but it left me wondering why the damn song is so popular. I don't think it's catchy at all. OTOH, I don't want to give it a second or a third chance, for fear it will stick in my brain. If you'd like, I could give you all some examples of some truly catchy Eurotrash pop from the last few years.
That's what amazed me...after hearing about it, I figured it would be super catchy right off the bat, like a good commercial jingle, but it wasn't. But somehow it snuck into my head and stayed there. I think there may be an audio lab somewhere, where engineers, scientists, and psychologists create these songs...funded by Vivendi and Sony, no doubt .
i heard some guys talking about how this ************ was coming, it was on a radio show. they played clips from the song. i hope america isnt that stupid. but then again, i know that it is.
Okay, despite my best efforts to prevent this, the damn Ketchup song is stuck in my head. I even know how to do the dance.
