Oh no way was that a sitter. He didn't even do too badly with it. It's not like he skied the damn thing. He put it two feet to the right of the post, on a one-time shot...and looked freakin embarrassed about it. The man has high standards for himself.
in lieu of rep maybe we can institute nut checks in light of today's goal celebration......you must spread some nut checks around before blah blah
Yeah, tough to come in as a forward for the last 25 minutes of a game your team is winning 5-0 and really light it up. Maybe the next game's last 25 minutes will have more at stake...
er...yes? Nah, I wasn't disagreeing with you or anything...call it an addendum to your post. Pretty sure his original post was Tongue-In-Cheek. Or perhaps you're being TIC with this post? Bah. I suck at the internet.
Anyone that labels that a sitter has never played the game, end of. That's a difficult shot to finish first time, but it was a chance Landon should've done better with, and he'll likely say so after the game. and those of you reacting as if criticism is shockingly retarded really just need to grow up. Landon has some poor moments. I agree that a 5-0 game is not a real forum to judge, but LD has to take advantage of every opportunity he gets, it's the nature of the beast. He's fighting for a transfer, and EVERY game is important, every minute is important. Fair? Hell no. It's reality.

man, stop shouting. your soap box is gonna break But I do appreciate the idea that soccer is reality. that's more than cool.
It wasn't a sitter but should have been converted or least put on frame. When the pass is from left to right, you have to sidefoot it or you'd probably screw it wide. And he did. That aside, he had a very poor appearance - very timid, a lot of turnovers, nothing really created and, when he played on the line on the corner kick, he had to close space on Gomez. Maybe he pressed too much. Maybe he just doesn't have enough quality to play at this level. He'll have to do a lot better to survive as the third striker with Bayern. Podolski whined himself out of a job but, another apearance like this and Landon may not be making the 18-man game roster for the bigger B-liga matches. Olic is nothing to be trifled with and he is already signed. BTW, Lehmann is kind of a major league a-hole and Miro came to Landon's rescue just in time.
Does anyone else just wish somebody would knock lehman on his ass? His douchebaggery is immense in every match ive ever seen him in.
It was his first important game, he came in when the game was already over, had a couple nice touches and one miss. You guys need to relax.
Haha...and the troll is at it again. How expected. Landon didn't score so he clearly doesn't belong in the Bundesliga. Nothing said about his work to come back for the ball and immediately spring a counter that almost resulted in a goal.
we have no idea if he's still "fighting for a transfer." that's the talk. but the reality could be that Munich has already made up their mind, and they (and LAG/AEG/MLS) already know that a transfer will (or won't) happen. I'd imagine his possible full-time club employer (the buying club) might take a look at Donovan's more complete body of recent work, and not just focus in on his first touch in his first competitive game with the club while on loan. his efforts are important, and it still is likely that a transfer is hanging in the balance, but he'll have more time and games to impress (if he already hasn't done so). yes, every touch and every minute matters, but as a part of the whole. i don't think the difference between finishing that opportunity (or just missing it, as he did) will be the deciding factor on what happens in March. now, if all he does between now and the end of his loan period is to imperfectly execute similar touches/shots and every opportunity, then that could be an issue.
I don't really get the negativity here. It was fine for 20 mins. There is no way anyone can call that initial shot a sitter. He might have done better by settling it with a touch first, but he tried a ballsier 1 touch into the corner. He would likely have been closed down if he took a touch anyway. If people are expecting a goal every 20 mins he plays, they need to be more realistic. It was good enough to stay in the hunt to be signed on a longer term basis...if Bayern haven't already decided to move forward and are trying to determine an appropriate value, which is where I think they are.
If the guy has to play perfect every minute during every appearance to earn a transfer then he doesn't have a prayer. Sky is not falling.
