At 22, he has already cemented his place as the best US player ever. Look forward to the next ten years watching his career. It's scary to think that he can get better...

He receives his due once more. High time he gets to have the "C" instead of Claudio Reyna. Even more so it makes the front page of Yahoo!

Not sure I agree. Landon was on form for the Nats. For the Quakes, Landon had on games and off games. And he was gone with the Nats, too. Definitely National Team player of the year, maybe not MLS Best XI for his performance this season. But in the real world, Landon is the most valuable player in the league, with only Freddie Adu close.

They have nothing to do with one another. The Honda Award is for the best NAT. Doesn't take club play into account.

    we gotta keep him healthy

The USMNT needs a healthy Landon to make it to Germany. If US Soccer has any brains (somewhat doubtful), they will keep Landon in MLS or EPL but away from Leverkusen. German players are trained to hurt people. They slide tackle to first touch the ball and then cleat the opponent on the follow-through. The last time they played Mexico, it was like watching Paul Bunyan earn his lunch. If Landon plays in Germany, they will make it a national priority to take him out. I wouldn't even put it past a German BL teammate to injure him in practice.

I hope someone in charge takes my conspiracy theory seriously!

When he's with the club he's a very good player. Alas, he hasn't played enough games to warrant the Best XI due to callups to the National Team, where he has been very exceptional.

Depending on whether or not he leaves, just for once I would like to see how he would perform in a 30 game regular season schedule but because of the constant callups to the US team we will never have that chance.

Still you cannot take away that he comes up big in the games that have a lot at stake, with the exception that he came up short in this year's MLS Cup tournament.

If this was an award for club play it would be the MLS regular seasn MVP, which went to Guevara of the Metros. This is for the best National Team player. Cheers!

I wonder if the fact that his (US) team mates are encouraging him going to europe would have any bearing on his.. attitude? outlook? on going over there?

    did that make any sense?

From what I've heard (and I believe I've said this before...), I get the impression that he would love to stay in the US. He would love for the level of US soccer to rise to a more competitive level, to be the American soccer star on the USMNT, as opposed to someone across the pond who was born here, so he gets to play for us.

I think it's a question of whether he can be challenged here, and whether MLS wants him for the price he costs.

It makes you wonder what HE would want were the 'rents and g-friend not an issue. If they were 100% supportive, and knowing MLS isn't quite challenging enough for him, would he want to go? I feel kinda bad for him. It does seem like he's getting pulled in so many different directions.
