Anyone catch Lando on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night?

In case not here are some tid bits....

....Kimmel starts off with an immediate mocking of the sport, relating it to Barney. (for kids until they get older and lose interest)

....Kimmel says he's been to a game at WC 94.

....Kimmel asks about Germany, Donovan hated the food and the people were mean.

....they head the ball to each other a few times and that's it.

IMO, just another TV personality whom knows nothing about the sport and throws in the immediate mockery. Oh, and as usual, the soccer player guest does and says nothing to defend himself or the sport he loves.

I guess any exposure is good exposure!

It wasn't that bad. He didn't say the people were mean.
And I didn't get that Kimmel was that derogatory towards soccer.
I don't think we have to be so defensive all the time.

I thought the whole segment was retarded. Jimmy Kimmel is as clueless about soccer as he is about hosting a late night talk show. Just listen to how he was saying FIFA, F...I...F...A... He is, however, quite skilled in his ability to ask the most irrelevant questions related to his guests, in this case Landon Donovan. Another thing, Donovan isn't exactly the most vibrant personality in US Soccer. He hardly seemed interested during the interview, and that header "clinic" was really dumb. Overall, be glad you missed it.

There were a couple of Galaxy fans in the first row.

Jimmy was KROQ's sports guy and he use to mock soccer all the time. I didn't expect much but I thought it was funny that he talked about stuff Landon did when he went to Germany the first time like 6 years ago. Nothing about winning 3 MLS cups with two different teams. I did laugh at Jimmy calling an "own Goal" something totally wrong and you could see Landon about ready to correct him but Jimmy kept talking.

he wasn't totally wrong, he called it by the Spanish word for it, "autogol" but he said it like it was an English word, like car, "auto goal".

what i though was funny was the look on Landon's face like, "well, you're not totally wrong, but you're wrong because that's not how you pronounce it in Spanish and the English word for it is own-goal."

in the end he just decided to be nice and let it go.

the heading clinic wasn't so bad. better than when Freddy was on the Late Show and took his shirt off.

Jimmy hardly let Landon talk. when Landon asked him if he'd ever been to a game, he went on about 1994, the U.S. Columbia game and how "that player" (Escobar, idiot Jimmy) got killed when he went home.

what the heck do you do with that. Cheryl Hines was all shocked and Landon's all, "yep, some people are really serious about the sport."

Yeah, I know. And I really think Landon would have invited him to a Galaxy game at that point and then segued into the game this past Saturday, LA vs. Chivas....but the moment passed because Jimmy wouldn't let Landon talk.

At least the audience seemed receptive to him, which is a positive thing, I think. All in all I liked it and my daughters liked it, but I guess we're easily amused. :)

I stayed up to watch Bril, I saw them live 2 Sundays ago at casino Morongo (they are much better live), Landon was an extra treat, lol. Anyways Jimmy was a moron on Kevin and Bean and continues to be one; he can be funny at times but is as ignorant as they come. His interview technique reminds me of a drunken teenager, but thats just my 2 cents.

THIS INTERVIEW WILL SET US SOCCER BACK 100 YEARS!

I wish I had the interview clip between Drew Carey and Craig Ferguson. That was great.

First I hear of this, I am guessing that someway related to soccer. Anything worth noting?

Drew and Craig talked about soccer, about going to games in Europe, etc. At one point while Drew was talking about going to LA Galaxy matches Craig tried to cast MLS as somewhat of a second-rate league (imo). Drew countered with the 3-0 friendly USNT win over Colombia with an all MLS squad. Craig shaddup about MLS after that. :)

Oh and if I remember correctly Drew tried to get Craig to admit he was a Celtic fan. Craig cut him off quickly and went to commercial.

    Great interview overall.
