Between Marquez and Henry, it's pretty hard to argue with him.

I don't know about dirty.......but this sentence from Ives about Rafa couldn't be more accurate:

"The episode was stupid and selfish and was the type of incident that has become all too familiar when it comes to Marquez."

No, it was definitely dirty. He threw the ball at Donovan, tried to punch Juninho, and then simulated a foul to try and get the Brazilian red-carded.

And it's not like he doesn't have a history of being a classless thug and a sore loser. Right Cobi Jones?

Is Henry dirty? Kevin Hartmann's knee, Roger Espinoza's skull, and Ireland's pride all say "Yes". Emphatically.

PS. Solli is also a certifiable punk. And Keel went down more enthusiastically than a Newark hooker. It looks to me like he's slapping himself silly.

Oh wow, that is the greatest gif of all time. The way that Marquez instinctively fakes it is pretty amazing. You don't get that kind of lightning quick reaction time without hours of dedicated training.

PS...I think you mean Tainio, not Solli. Right?

I would be surprised if Taino doesn't pick up something from the disciplinary committee with his choke hold on Juninho. It will be interesting to see how the disciplinary committee (if they even will have the balls to do anything) handles this, as this end game skirmish had everything the league said (this season) they wanted to crack down on.

Keel going down reminded me of that one commercial a year or two ago for SyFy's "Ghost Hunters" program. Where one of the actors in it grabs his neck and once he removes his hand you see marks from his fingernails and thereby claims a ghost assaulted him. :D

A bit off topic but did Juninho do anything to earn his red or was it just a result of Marquez's acting skills?

I think it was because he made slight contact with his arm/hand going across Keel's shoulder and neck. However, Keel goes down like he was punched in the face even though a hand barely brushed his cheek.

I'm sure it was just a coincidence that Marquez threw the ball at Donovan...

Keel is a punk too for faking facial contact and getting Juninho red carded.

    I don't know about Solli.

I'm not going to call a whole team dirty due to one or two players acting like punks. The problem is that when you're two stars and supposed leaders are undeniabe prats.........it trickles down to the rest of the team.

THis particular play is unbelievable in its sheer stupidity. Hopefully we've seen the last of Marquez in this league, and RBNY can find a big-money DP with some class.

I'm a NY fan, and Junhino should not have been red carded. If MLS has any balls whatsoever, they'll rescind the red. No way in hell should Junhino suffer the same punishment as Rafa.

As for is NY a dirty team? A resounding yes.

Henry is dirty as hell. On top of what others mentioned in this thread, did anyone else seen him step on Beckhams arm near the end, after a tackle? Beckham was still holding it during the scuffle.

I hate the flopping after starting something. If you start it, be man enough to finish it. These clowns falling down like a sniper shot them is insulting to both fans and the game.

I actually hope LA runs us off the pitch on thur. 3-0 or 4-0 would be great. Know why? It's the only way this club gets blown up this offseason. I don't need any more false hope for the front office to hang on to.

If LA just smashes us on thur, it will be that much harder to keep Backe. As of now he's staying. I'd rather sacrifice this game, and playoff run, to ensure Backe and Rafa are gone at the minimum.

If not, Juan and Ream better get the f out of there in Jan.

I like Henry, and chalk his stupid "cheap" behavior up to his passion/frustration for the game. He needs to check himself, but thats also part of what makes him the competitor he is.

As for Marquez ..... never liked him, like him less now. Starting shit after the game is dirtball --> New York could do much better than this guy, especially for DP $$$

I knew Marquez was a cheap shot punk but I must admit my eyes have been opened as to what a dirty, classless player Henry is. What a bitch.

I expected this to be a flame war, considering the thread title. Instead, I find... something close to consensus? Wow.

But such a talented bitch :) He almost scored 2 goal of the year candidates in that game.

On the other hand Marquez should just GTFO. Cheating scum.

We are a dirty team. And not even in an effective way. It's a totally dysfunctional team right now.

Marquez really needs to go in the offseason though. He's not nearly good enough to put up with this shit. Even if he was perfectly behaved he needs to go.

If you take sportsmanship out of the equation though, he totally helped his team with his scummy ways after that game. He took Juninho, our best DM out of the game, in a game where the Galaxy will be counting on their defense.

Are disciplinary committee now concerned about NYRB players choking other players? They weren't a month ago.

Not really. We have a few dirty players, obviously, but even LA has their Kovalenkos and Beckhams from time to time, and they have to be one of the "nicest" teams in the league.

Our back four is probably the least thuggish in the league, though. And lol @ whoever called Solli a thug. The guy's a smilie emoticon with legs.
