That time of year I guess. Moyes comments directly on it. I say go. Love for it to be permanent, but won't hold my breath. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3915950/Everton-want-Landon-Donovan-back.html edit:By the way, there's about 5-8 other outlets in the UK mentioning this as well. Just google it if you care.
Re: Landon back to Everton? Aren't Everton finally in talks with investors too? Maybe they'll actually have some cash to improve their squad come January.
Re: Landon back to Everton? Sidefootsitter has said a few times, Landons contract should be affordable to buyout this winter. I think he said around 5M. So if Landon wants to go, and wants a permanent move, I could definitely see Everton coughing up that amount to buy him. Also, I can't think of a better move for Landon leading up to 2014. He seems to have lapsed mentally over the last year. He played some of his best soccer for Everton, leading up to the WC. Why not go until the WC, while young enough, and come back to MLS at around age 32.? He'd still have a good 4-5 MLS years left in him.
Re: Landon back to Everton? hasn't he won 5 of these? why would he need another one? Don't think Moyes will stick with Everton much longer. He lost arteta, pienaar, and will probably lose two of his english kids to Fergie or Kenny.
Re: Landon back to Everton? You guys are funny. 5 million is a fee that Everton can not pay for a player no matter who it is. They need a new owner but at this point that is up in the air and wouldn't likely be complete before the window.
Re: Landon back to Everton? ? "Everton have funds for transfers when the January window opens following the departure of Mikel Arteta to Arsenal for £10million in August, but Moyes will seek only a loan move for Donovan."
Re: Landon back to Everton? Don't get me wrong. I would love it if Donovan made it over to Everton. Fewest number of yanks in the prems in 3 or 4 year, no?
Re: Landon back to Everton? The Peinaar money was suppose to be used for transfers but was taken (not given) to the banks. You are talking about a club who has had to promise future revenue (season tic, and tv money) to get another loan from the banks. Everton brought in 2 players on loan this summer. He could come in on loan but they won;t be dropping 5 mill to bring him in on a permanent deal unless a new investor is brought in before Jan.
Re: Landon back to Everton? Think so. Clint Whitbread Timmy Only guys who have appeared this season, I think. Stu is injured. Lichaj is injured. Friedel and Guzan aint playing.
Re: Landon back to Everton? Friedel has started every one of Tottenham's league games this season (9 so far).
Re: Landon back to Everton? Sorry, but I must laugh at the thought that SFS has any real idea what a buyout of LD's contract is. And Moyes has gone on record that buying LD permanently is unfortunately out of the question. http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk...an-back-to-everton-fc-on-loan-92534-29723404/
Re: Landon back to Everton? Some would suggest there might be an inverse correlation when this happens rather than a direct one . . . Props to StillKickin, for beating me to the punch here.
Re: Landon back to Everton? It'd roughly be the remaining years/salary on the guy's contract - which, I believe, has 2 years to go at ~ $2.5M/Y or $5M total. But it's considered a hostile action by the owner of the contract, aka MLS, and Moyes is unlikely to want to go nuclear over Donovan when playing nice does the trick. Not for a 30 year old player. Ah, Nicole, celebrating a decade of Donovan worship. You know, one could always refer to FIFA rules and past decisions by sports tribunals ... now, wait, ignorance must be bliss on the Outer Banks of North Carolina!
Re: Landon back to Everton? Friedel has the record for consecutive Premiership appearances, 276. When he doesn't start, you'll probably hear something.
Re: Landon back to Everton? I don't see LA willing to lose both Lando and Becks in the same off-season (assuming Becks doesn't turn down one last Euro adventure).
Re: Landon back to Everton? He needs to move abroad and push himself against the best. Him at Fulham would be sick but do they have the funds?
Re: Landon back to Everton? At this point I don't care what he does as long as he still does well with the Nats.
Re: Landon back to Everton? Fulham would definitely have the funds. The owner, Mohammed al Fayed is plenty rich (used to own Harrods) - as well as a first-class nutter.
Re: Landon back to Everton? LD was clearly better after his time at Everton. It faded to the point where you had landycakes make a guest appearance against costa rica.
