I said i feared they would be lame..AND THEY WERE. So were the fans...not 1 chant all night. When I started one...the people around me thought I was crazy...and just stared (section 114 row 12) What a lame team..what lame fans!!

I am saddened by the current soccer status in NJ/NY.

    SAD!!!

The team was about average, for where I thought they'd be right now. Nothing to set the world on fire with, but nowhere near complete. A 90th minute loss sucks out loud, yeah. But then again, there's nothing like jerkin' the old knee, is there?

What kind of singing do you expect, when you sit in the middle section of the stadium? Go to the 'tribuna' or side-of-the-field stand at most stadiums throughout the world, and you'll find fans who bring it just as little as the Giants Stadium crowd does, I guarantee you.
You're not spilling state secrets, talking about how the fans there can sit on their hands and swallow their tongues - but then how much did they have to get excited about tonight?

The fans at Nets and Devils games are just as lame. There was nothing for the fans to get excited about. Maybe after the team starts gelling in a few weeks (or months)....

When 20K show up for a team with a past like the Metros, I think the state of soccer is doing remarkably well. Start winning, I think soccer will do great.

I am saddened by redundancy. You saw a bunch of World Cup stars and a bunch of future World Cup stars last night. It could have been a lot worse.

Are you serious? I don't know what games you've been going to, butthe NJ Devils have had absolutely ELECTRIC crouds when I have been there - wish the same support could be given to the Metros...

    >>World Cup stars >>

Well , I wouldnt call any of them World Cup STARS. Maybe American World Cup stars, but thats a BIG difference in wording.

Believe it or not 99.999% of the soccer world still has no clue who Mathis, Heyduk and McBride are. BUT you are right, it could have been much worse.

Agree and disagree. I never said we were world class, but I'd say any foreign fan with knowledge of the game has a pretty good idea of who Mathis and McBride are. But yes, my main point is I remember the days of praying for a shootout where we might be able to steal a win.
