i recently read an article and heard an interview where Lalas had some 'not so positive' things to say about David Beckam.

Anyone know the story behind the beef?

I just can say that Lalas is very bad, his soccer sucks, sincerely North-American soccer has too much to evolute.

David Beckham is an exelent player, but there are others better than him, Diego (Santos), Ronaldo Gaúcho (Barcelona), Michael Owen, Saviola, Riquelme, Thiago Motta, Robinho (Santos), Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Zidane and Figo (Real Madrid

Sorry friend, sorry if u don´t understand my words. I think that America can be better, but today America is not stong on soccer, sorry, but that is the true. In every sport results have value, just results. U have an exelent goalkeeper, a good mieldfielder, but it is not enough, u gonna evolute in soccer...

I don´t wanna put politician in this, but our country doesn´t like War, we country just wanna peace and it is better if i stop, cause i can write too much nonsenses here in war subject, ok?

    LOVING BRASIL SINCE EVER

Memo to the rest of the world: It's been 5 1/2 years since Lalas last played for the US, and now he isn't even guaranteed to start for the LA Galaxy. Stop holding him up as the standard of American defenders.

    Indeed.

Maybe Lalas wanted to hook up with Posh and is still pissed that she is off the market.

Why does there have to be a beef, or anything like a story? Lalas has opinions and he expresses them in an interview. Not really a surprise there. Especially since they've never been on the same field at the same time.

    Oh, and it's "Beckham"

No idea, but Beckham is roughly 1,000 times the player Lalas ever was, so I don't see why he'd say anything or who'd really be listening (with any serious interest anyway.)

I'm not ripping on Lalas, but its true. I'm happy with his contribution to the growth of soccer in this country.

A squid, huh? Now that's a thought. With 10 arms, he should be playing in goal.

Miami is definately Cuba, then Haiti. Brazil would be further down the list.

Wow, 1,000 times better, I guess that your hyperbole machine goes all the way to 11.

Excuse me, I am going to go evolute.

Beckham is by far the best player. Ive never heard of the other guy. Beckham played for Man U for years and now plays for real, you dont get onto either of those two teams without being one of the best in the world.

Being a Manchester United fan, I had mixed emotions about Beckhams departure to Real Madrid. I felt his personal life was interfering with his game and he was having difficulties with Sir Alex Ferguson (Manager), but I knew he is an absolutely fantastic player. Since his emergence from the Man U youth team, he has shone out as a hared working, committed and highly skillful player. His passing, free kicks and corners are second to none. The ball is glued to his foot and he can stroll around other players. Comparing him to Lalas is unfair, especially considering he has moved from one of the strongest leagues in the world to another. Even though he has left my beloved team, I have to admit he is in the top 5 players in the world, along with Thierry Henri, Zinadine Zidane, Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo

so true mate.. i surport arsenal and we both know Man u and the gunners are rivals.. but ive got 2 admit beckham was deffinatley a great player :'(. but to be honest, people like your self compare him to the likes of Zidane, Figo, Carlos, Nedved but in my opinion he doesnt touch them! but hes got a gr8 right peg!.. the thing is... i've got a better left foot than he has!!

    off subject

I'm quite new to the world of English football, so I would like to know, how deep the rivalries go between teams such as Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool etc. If I'm into Man U, does that mean I can't like another team?

    Thanks~
