I would say it pretty much sums up the feeling of the fanbase

Lalas has set himself up masterfully by constantly repeating what a mess he inherited and how he's got to make radical changes to fix it. Now, if things pick up, he's a genius. If they don't, oh well, it was always a mess. He took this out of the Sakiewicz 2000 playbook. All Metro need now is a dispersal draft that lands them an MVP calibre player and Alexi can be a saviior.

Yes, but he was wearing a totally different leather jacket when he said it.

It's simple. Make Metro the darling of every soccer fan in NYC alone and we'd have 30k a match. Add the Jersey fans and Harrison is already too small before a spade breaks ground.

It's the simple things that are the most difficult.

"with his trademark flowing Pippi Long-Stockings hair and goatee. Lalas was perhaps the only American soccer player who was and still is a household name among the casual fan"

It's interesting, but the other "household" soccer stars are Cobi Jones (dreads) and Clint Mathis (mohawk). Perhaps the superclub should forget the ties and jacket approach, and get everyone to sport really outrageous hairstyles. We fans could all get wacky hair styles (those of us with hair...) We could become:

    The Super Hair Club!!

Or the Idiots, a la last year's Red Sox...

The funny thing is, I remember when Sakiewicz was GM and Mamadou Diallo and Mike Petke were our most recognizable names. I'll take the current direction of the franchise over that disaster any day.

The team was fine until Nick decided to knock our socks off in 2001.
