Califf & Cobi called up Il Bruce for the Mexico "friendly" next week.

Califf: He continues to improve and is being given a real chance to be part of USMNT for WC 96.

Cobi: So, Bruce does have a sense of humor. We love Cobi, but he is not part of the Nats future. This is obviously giving Cobi a chance to reprise his taunt of the 2-0 game. Like waiving a red flag in front of a toro? I love it.

I'm not surprised that Califf was called in, though I don't think he'll start. If he does play, it'll be as a sub IMHO. I'm HAPPY to see that "Thug Life" is getting a SERIOUS look with the USMNT. His play has improved, DRAMATICALLY, over the last year or two.

As far as Cobi is concerned, I was SHOCKED to see him included in the roster. Not because of his skills, but because I thought he would "suit up" for the USMNT just one more time: the 2003 Gold Cup!!

However, I wouldn't expect to see Cobi play unless we're behind or even late in the game. Perhaps, we'll even see Cobi if (or should I say WHEN) we're ahead late in the game.

You gotta love the effect that Cobi has on the mexicans' psyche.

My only worry is that if Cobi does play that the mexicans will resort to what they do best, HACKING & DIRTY playing!!

i would NOT be suprised if cobi started and CAPTAINED the team. he only didnt' play too much ealier because bruce already know he is dependable and was testing out other kids to see what they could do. the teams so far this year were YOUNG teams and players that would FOR SURE be on the next world cup rotatoin. i dunno how realistic it is for cobi to be on the next squad. but he is playing at the top of his game right now damn well should start.
