I didn't see this posted anywhere:

I think this stadium, in the end, is going to be a real monwy maker for AEG. I don't know how applicable it is as an example, however, to other MLS teams because there probably isn't a need for this type of complex in other cities, just the soccer stadium.

I don't know if the economics of the socc stadium by itself really makes sense without adding everything else into the equation.

Good stuff. And although it seems insignificant, I think this sentence is one of the most important in the article:

The soccer stadium will be the site of Major League Soccer's All-Star game Aug. 2 and the home of the Galaxy.

Notice they just call them "the Galaxy." Not Los Angeles Galaxy. Not describing what sport and what league and all that jazz.

    Just "the Galaxy."

Trust me, not having some needle-nosed copy editor making the writer be more specific is huge. They are part of the landscape.

And they didn't get mentioned in an article about their new home until the second-to-last sentence. The got mentioned AFTER a Golden Spikes TRACK MEET.

I enjoyed your positive spin on it, but then I read the article.

I agree. The more typical formulation would be "the Los Angeles Galaxy, a professional soccer team in the fledgling Major Soccer League."

agreed - however, LA can't hold down an NFL franchise. so is this a shocker that the Galaxy get listed after other "entertainment" stuff going on there?

the opposite is true for columbus, and imo rochester if they ever get a team. i guess i'm in favor of the mid-markets, as far as that whole debate is concerned.

    Pu-leeze.

There have been reams of stories about how this complex is being built for Anschutz's soccer team. So they focus on the ancillary issues and you get your panties in a wad?

Amazing. Cross-dragging is the official hobby of American soccer fans.

So are the Galaxy going to open the season in the Rose Bowl or will they just be a permanent road team for 3 months? According to the article, the soccer stadium will open June 1.

Uh...... maybe it's because they just mentionned the league and sport at the beginning of the sentence?????

The only competitive home match between now and them is a Champs Cup match. That'll probably be played at Titan. No matches will be played at the RB....or at least that's the latest.
