    Happy New Year everyone

To begin I know that last year the lack of consistent updates was staggering, honestly morale is at an all time low so it's been a slog to even post sometimes. I hope to be able to get back on track so with that said let's get started.

New year, new thread, and a new coach to boot.

David Doniga who was just wrapped up coaching Sporting Miguelito of the Panamanian League. He also worked under Thomas Christiansen and coached the Panamanian U23 side.

In my opinion I'm assuming FESFUT saw the success Panama is having under Christiansen and hopes that getting one of the guys who worked under that system will be able to replicate it here. That sounds good on paper but it means nothing if the resources aren't there and if the league isn't going to play ball.

    @La Trucha
    @edcalvi

If one of you guys can unsticky last years thread and replace with this one it will be greatly appreciated. I would also appreciate if the Women's Soccer thread be stickied as well. I will be creating a new abroad thread for 2024 and tag you guys once it's completed. I will also be creating and a new youth thread so as to not only combined all the age groups, but also just end the need for making new ones.

    Thanks

First set of call-ups for the women’s side mini camps and a huge get. We have our first NWSL player her name is Samantha Fisher and she plays for the Chicago Red Stars. Maybe, maybe we can convince Viviana to join.

Final list for the game against Inter Miami.

Nelson being on the list is a surprise, so is Martinez since the season is just starting. We’ll see how this squad looks under this new coach.

A scoreless results against Miami not much to really write about. More importantly today is the draw for the CONCACAF WCQ.

El Salvador and Honduras have the most accesible groups. The real question is will we be a more cohesive unit once the qualifiers begin just like the Nations League they will be one offs, not the usual home and away series we are used to. The top two of each group advance to the third round the schedule is as follows.

    Match Dates
    2024
    First Round
    March 18th
    Anguilla vs. Turks & Caicos

    March 26th
    Turks & Caicos vs. Anguilla

    Second Round
    June 6th
    El Salvador vs. Puerto Rico

    June 9th
St. Vincent & The Grenadines vs. El Salvador

    2025
    June 7th
Anguilla/Turks & Caicos vs. El Salvador

    June 10th
    El Salvador vs. Suriname

Honestly they probably could have done all the quals for the second round and some of the third this year since the GC is next year making that schedule real congested.

A 2-0 loss CR just had control of the game they looked competent but that was more because CR was okay sitting back and going on the counter which they easily did.

Guatemala released its call-up list for the encounter wish they would list the clubs. Reading the comments one of their key players will not be present due to it not being a FIFA date.

    Tickets sold out?

Concacaf is shady af and dishonest for false advertisement.

Many fans already had travel plans to Southern California for this game, only to find out that the match will not be played inside the stadium where the LA Galaxy usually plays.

But instead the game will be played at some adjacent practice facility with a capacity of only 2,000 spectators.

SMH. I hope this gets fixed.

Shaky backline for Guatemala. I had a feeling something like this would happen.

Good luck to the El Salvador ladies in the W Gold Cup, and especially Juana Plata my crush. :D

Came back just for the ladies lmao, but they play good soccer tbh.
The women are in the GC group stage with Canada, Costa Rica, and Paraguay.
Schedule is: FEBRUARY 22 vs Canada at 2100, FEBRUARY 25 vs Costa Rica at 2000, and FEBRUARY 28 vs Paraguay at 2100. Al games being held at Shell Energy stadium which is in Houston Texas, so those times mentioned above are local time to there.

Late replying my bad but I felt Guate would have succeeded getting back in the game had it stayed 11 on 11. The style El Salvador plays leaves some pretty sizable gaps in the mid that just make it easy for counterattacks.

Me personally I know letter of the law it was a red but I would have left it a yellow. The long replay showed that our girl gave her a decent shot first hence the retaliation.

Wish I could go but man those games all start somewhat late and I work overnight shifts

My one gripe with Acuńa was he knew the game was in control and kept Brenda in after her hattrick instead of subbing her out.

Finally this response from the presser.

The only thing I can conclude is that some talking heads have been doing the same “Are they really Salvadoran” bit they did with the men.

Yes exactly, both players should have been carded.

The ref was atrocious giving a PK when the foul was clearly outside the box and she didn't even bother to go check it in the VAR.

I'm sorry, but an inexperienced Nicaraguan ref shouldn't have been assigned for such an important game. She was clearly incompetent.

Life comes first, and tbh I’m not expecting too much from us. Think it’s gonna be blowouts

Acuña has been known to have a’club’ of sorts. Only players that he is cool with. It’s worked so far bc they’ve been successful, but we’ve seen many players come and go and have a sort of issue with the group bc of that. Hell, about a year and a half ago there was a whole debacle about it. He doesn’t trust the bench players and usually rotates the same 15-16 players

You’re right about the ref. Really weak and it benefited us in this game. I think the bigger issue is who do they use? At some point the only women refs that do well seem to be the Mexicans/Americans. They even just grab men from CA to ref bc the women are so under par….

I know some of the U.S. born players complained as well as FAS players. Explains why you never see FAS players get called up despite them and Alianza being the big two when it’s come to the last few championships. It will continue that way until it fails, he’s lucky that not many hands get in that pot as compared to the men’s side.

You're exactly right about the female refs outside the USA/MEX.

    I just didn't wanna sound sexist. :D
