Regal / MLS / HDTV partnership http://www.mlsnet.com/content/03/mls0528regal.html Now, this is synergy. Anschutz owns the theaters and has had the technology installed in limited portions across the U.S. HDNet provides game content. People that can't afford HDTV for home use at this time get exposure to HDTV and may eventually purchase it. Also, Anschutz finds another way to keep the theaters from being idle. And, I can see it expanding in the future...perhaps in time for the Women's World Cup? Or perhaps see Freddy Adu in the YWC?
Unfortunately the 4-games listed looks as if it would be counter-productive considering the markets and the teams. I guess they also want to display the HDC a few times.
I read early this year (or late last year) that REG was converting the theaters over, but I guess the theaters in this area haven't been as of yet. Also, I guess the DC area is only just now having a theater or two with $10 admission. I'm sure Uncle Phil targeted the metro areas that were already charging at least that much for movie tickets
i'm somewhat surprised they didn't add the july 4th game... but then again... that might also be a big movie day very interesting and very cool
The New York theatre is twelve blocks from my apartment. I'll definitely check one of the games out. Never saw a soccer game in a movie theatre before. It should be interesting.
LA, NY, CO, and CH, get ready... to blow your mind. http://www.mlsnet.com/content/03/mls0528regal.html i'll be there in Irvine.
It's west of Highland Park, near where 294 becomes 94. The LA vs SJ match starts at the same time that a Fire game ends in Naperville, but the others don't overlap with Fire game days.
Wednesday nights, all. Rock on. Wed-June 11...D.C. United @ Colorado......9:30 Wed-June 18...San Jose @ Los Angeles....10:30 Wed-July 9....Colorado @ Los Angeles....10:30 Wed-July 30...Columbus @ Los Angeles....10:30 Two questions: Who'll start the first thread bitching that the Coming Attractions ran long? Can we go and yell at the screen and do the Time Warp and stuff?
You can do that, and we'll go to laugh at you Or, we could all just go dressed as presidents, and have a look-alike contest. Of course, you'd win, hands down... Of course, yelling at the screen might be worthwhile. I wonder if taunting Garlick is as fun in a movie theater as it is in person.
Like you don't do that anyway. Could you see somebody sitting there talking to the screen - "Man on!" Bet your butt. I was amazed at how thin he is. Ease back on the Caloric Burn Throttle, Scott. Maybe Naperville's Own Scott Vallow will start in that one, though.
No. But I'll be prone to throw things at the screen if Cunningham is playing. This puppy's gonna require a huge kitchen pass. What should I get the wifey to look the other way?
July 4th is traditionally the biggest movie day of the year. There isn't a theater in the country that would give up screen space. RS
