I don't think I've seen anything even close to it in this year's edition of the Libertadores. If only the players would play with the heart and passion of the fans.

"ESTA HINCHADA SE MERECE SER CAMPEON!!!!"

Videos and pics to be posted later, no doubt.

4 years without titles = 8 semesters without titles = 15 tournaments without titles (this Clausura - not Libertadores- is still up for grabs). The 15 tournaments are getting veeery close to those 18 years ...

Yet, River fans tend to believe they are winning the "hinchadas" tournament. Got 2 words for it: Oscar Ahumada. It looked like a busy library in the 2nd half.

    Cheers.

What the hell does the team not winning any of the last 15 tournaments have to do with the hinchada? In fact, it adds merit to the hinchada for still always being there and being the team with top attendance year after year.

Like Carrizo said, if River were to play in the Bombonera, there would be people left out EVERY Sunday. ;)

LOL where were those people when there was only like 15k against Gimnasia??
Why don't you post the 20 something banderas 'blancas' that have been displayed the last two league games

You probably saw a different game. Sure, there weren't as many people as River tends to attract, but there were more than 15,000 (many arrived after the game started). I'll tell you there were probably double that amount.

Here are some pictures for you:

Once again, not impressive for River's standards, but not bad either. If 30,000+ fans are present it looks like no one showed up, just because the stadium is so huge that it's half empty.

Those flags were aimed at Ahumada and Aguilar, and there is honestly nothing wrong with them. What where the fans supposed to do? Pretend nothing ever happened and chant the name of the two? Give me a break. It's not like our barra took a huge BLACK flag that said "GRACIAS X EL CAMPEONATO" and displayed it in the middle of the popular. That's just embarrasing, and it was actually seen in another stadium in Argentina in the 90s (hint, hint: it was placed by the same group of fans that use parlantes).

    'Nuff said.

I never understood why River fans think their is a difference between that banner and all the numerous banners that they have displayed in the past, ranging from 'Que se vayan todos', 'Mucha hinchada para poco equipo', throwing corn as your team enters the field, '+ Corazon Y Menos Desilusion', 'Jugadores Cagones, Vallanse Todos', 'Ladrones de Ilusiones' 'Ojala Jugaran con los Huevos de Esta Hinchada', 'Yo Por River Doy la Vida, Los Jugadores Dan Verguenza' and many other banners that you've displayed in the past and yet when they try and talk about Boca all they point out is that one banner that was shown what twice??

The corn was embarrassing, but that was by some stupid plateistas who aren't accepted by the crowd in general. The people in the popular were singing "en las buenas, y en las malas mucho maaaas!" before the team even entered the field.

As for the flags, many -such as "Ojala Jugaran con los Huevos de Esta Hinchada" and "Yo Por River Doy la Vida, Uds. Dan Verguenza"- were aimed indirectly at Ahumada. They were referring to Ahumada blaming the loss on the fans, instead of himself and his teammates.

Anyway, the difference with La 12's infamous black flag is that most of these poor-taste flags were displayed by retarded plateistas. River's plateista were never liked by both normal fans and players alike. These guys always find something to critisize and do not represent the general public. The "GRACIAS X EL CAMPEONATO" banner, on the other hand, was placed by La 12 in the center of the popular.

Wait ... fans that kill each other, and that when they get to the games are repudiated by the plateistas and the rest. And now, the plateistas, those same that round the players and provoke havoc ... those same plateistas that are the ones that the press considers the "critical" and more serious sector in any of the numerous protests in the past 4 years? Those who supposedly "define" river's "paladar"?

Are we trying to cover the sun with a finger?

These days are pretty dark at river. Filtering problems to switch the reality ... Superclasico lost; elimination from the Libertadores in hands of non other than Ramon and D'Ale; fans insulting their players, throwing them corn! :D - this has to be the most embarrasing thing EVER done by any fan; players pinching the only pride that river fans can try to hold on to these days ... nah m8, this 4 years are as dark as they can get. From dirigentes to coaches, to players (and their wives), to fans.

Surely there have been some sweet moments. But nothing compares to the sweetness of travelling around the globe to Japan, previous stops in Brazil. Si supieran ...

Yup, yup.. despite the violence scandals in the stands in the middle of the semester, as well as the extremely humiliating elimination to San Lorenzo in the Copa Libertadores, River finished (once again..) as the team with most tickets sold in the Torneo Clausura 2008. We were the team that sold most tickets at home, away, and with both combined.

Either way, I don't know why I'm posting this: it's not surprising at all, really..
