Drop your predictions in this thread. Our format:
    • La Liga top 1-5:
    • La Liga bottom 3:
    • Biggest upwards leap from last year (most positions gained):
    • Biggest downwards slide from last year (most positions lost):
    • Top Scorer:
    • First coach to be sacked:
    • Shocker of the season (Only one, could be, but doesn't have to be - surprise sacking, surprise hiring, surprise bust):
This thread will be closed prior to the League opener on Thursday. Put your predictions down before that point for mega bragging rights and to be the official "iknewit!" guy with receipts.

An idea is, if you hit on one of the surprises early, you DM me and i push this thread back up with a quote of the post for you to look like an absolute football genius, even during the season.

Posts edited after closing date are declared invalid and are considered Negreirared.

This is not a League discussion thread. Only predictions here. We get those "i knew this would happen!" and the "well this happened last year so this will repeat itself" posts lately so this here is where you put it down as directly as possible.

Safe to say if you predict Barca/Atleti to win the title it's an Art the cowardly lion move though.

Biggest downwards slide from last year (most positions lost): Girona
    Top Scorer: Mbappe
First coach to be sacked: Girona sack their coach after a steep initial downwards slope with potentially couple of hefty defeats in the CL. I'm going for flash here instead of a bad team hiring an experienced guy to save them after a bad start.
Shocker of the season: Flick doesn't last over a season.

(I reserve the right personally - if not in this thread - to change 1st and 2nd if Pérez signs a CB, otherwise, as I've already said previously, I'm convinced the complete negligence at that position is going to end up costing us in a big way at some point this season. We also really suck at defending league titles, so there's that too.)

La Liga bottom 3: Real Valladolid, Leganes, Mallorca

Biggest upwards leap from last year (most positions gained): Alavés

Biggest downwards slide from last year (most positions lost): Girona

    Top Scorer: Mbappé

First coach to be sacked: Claudio Giráldez (Celta)

Shocker of the season: Based on this thread, I've already spelled it out.

You have a point. It has been nearly 18 yrs since Real Madrid last successfully defended La Liga.

Girona lost several key players and I think 8 additional CL games could affect their league form badly.

As for our CB situation, some said we got lucky Bellingham stepped up when we didn't replace Benz last summer. Our CB situation last season was pretty dire too. Militao pretty much missed the entire season and Alaba missed 60%. Nacho got benched due to some poor red cards so it was Tchouameni at CB who helped expand our lead in La Liga during January and February.

Carlo pretty much said in Mikel podcast that he looked at Bellingham's previous season at Dortmund and his late runs into the box reminded him of Lampard and that prompted 4-4-2 switch.

I believe Tcho is a good CB and pretty young to have a fall off from last season. And I believe Camavinga is a very good DM who can step in if Tcho is playing CB. So in short, I think club is taking a calculated gamble based on the options they had last season rather than challenging some karma doomsday.

    4. Athletic
    5. La Real

I agree with what others have already said; we don’t really retain the league title and historically kinda underperform in those small games which will win you the league. Add to that potential injuries in defense….think that will kill any momentum. Barca, for all their shortcomings, do seemingly well in the league. I do expect us to do well in the CL.

Biggest downwards slide from last year (most positions lost): Yeah has to be Girona.

Player of the season: Vini. He seems to have picked up from where he left off, should get more rest and attention with Mbappe next to him. Seems to improve his game as well, given his playmaking skills against Atalanta.

I don’t see a Player of the Season in the original template, only top scorer.

Haha. That’s cool. I agree with you, Kylian top score and Vinicius POTY. Yesterday they had everyone on the ESPN team do their predictions including ex players and pundits, almost everyone picked Kylian top scorer, Vini POTY.

Anyway, I hope our team has a great season and wins the league again. I have kept my expectations low for a few seasons now, this season i fully expect us to win the league and a deep run in the CL. I’ll take whatever the team gives us in the copa.
