I heard an accountant ( familiar with the football world) talking the other day and he said any kind of new Super League would be unlikely to have a relegation system... he also explained that the reason that most billionaires won’t buy mid / low table teams ( ie Newcastle) is because the risk of relegation is a deal breaker .
My opinion doesn’t take into account relegation. The thought of finishing bottom or near the bottom of ANY league table is something, I feel, many clubs are afraid of because it could hurt their status of being an elite club. Especially if they finish near the bottom on a consistent basis. It’s better to finish near the top of a domestic league where you’re challenging for the title than to finish near the bottom of a Super League where fixtures towards the end of the season mean very little, if anything at all.
