La Liga in the Asian eyes? Let me see, they are one of the best leagues in the world, players in La Liga tend to be creative with all the Brazilians etc.

But I don't support any La Liga team.

Nope I follow club football loosely, being in America and all, but from time to time check on EPL teams in the internet like Chealsea, Arsenal, Man Utd., Reading. But loosely

La Liga? Hmm, there's Filipino Paulino Alcantara (1896-1954). He is FC Barcelona's all-time leading goalscorer (357 goals in 357 matches).

He was also the first Asian footballer to play for a European club.

He debuted for Barca at the age of 15 years, 4 months and 18 days against Catalá SC in the Championat de Catalunya. FC Barcelona won 9-0. Alcántara scored a hat-trick - the first three goals of the match.

Too bad though, as the onset of basketball erased whatever potential Filipino footballers may have had.

I donno about Asian eyes, but with 3 Koreans in EPL and none in Liga, there is definitely much more interest in EPL. On top of that there is a fairly big Korean community in England, but not so in Spain---I think this is also a gigantic issue. I have a Korean English cousins who have been Mancheter fans way back when they were newcastleish. You don't find many Korean fans who loved RM since long ago.

Of course, any soccer loving Korean would respect the Liga when it's chocked full of Brazillian super stars.

All this is of course subject to change if a new and capable star "make" it in Liga.

When Cha Bum Geun was around, lots of Koreans regarded Bundesliga as the best in the world---although i guess back in the late 70's early 80's, it was probably the strongest. But as you can see I am biased by Cha Bum Geun. I'm guessing lots of Iranians probably regard current Bundesliga higher than Koreans would.

What's the general view of La Liga in the middle east?

  22. In Iraq you see tons of people with Barca or Madrid jerseys, it's really funny.
