no the thing is they weren't going to play there because of a death during a match. But all the sudden they said they would be able to play there and they only had 1 week to fix the pitch. Terrible field terrible boring game.
The stadium was fined after a murder took place there while Santa Fe played América de cali about a month ago, ever since then it has been closed, they haven't bothered to treat the grass ever since, they just got noticed that they were going to play the first final leg there yesterday, I still can't believe that they don't treat the field even if closed, they sould do some preventive maintanance, if they did, this wouldn't have happened.
Ah, I missed the beginning of the match when they were explaining that. About that incident...It's my understanding it started when some América de Cali fans tried to invade Santa Fe's barra's section and a few fans found themselves stuck inside (when they were beaten, stabbed and tossed over the railing.) Is that correct? It was hard to make sense from just video... You're right though, they should have been prepared or warned earlier either way. It was pathetic seeing dirt being kicked up every time.
IT was all different kinds of things. There was an internal fight in La Guardia (barra brava de Santafe) then the game got out of hand and people from Santa Fe got into the field and then the cops went into la Guardias place and then fans from America got into a part were Santa Fe fans were and that's were the fan got killed.
I see. Do you know what the internal dispute was over? Two factions wanting a certain section of territory on the terrace? I'm all for the ultra/barra mentality but stabbings and murder are inexcusable and really saddening.
Santa Fe's barra said that the guy was a known thief, and stole during the games in the stadium, they said that Santa Fe's barra took care of its own problem.
i heard the fieldkeepers were drinking aguardiente instead of taking care of the grass like the black guy in RUDY
yes, I heard that also but I also heard that there's a group of people who seek control of the barra. Who knows there's a bunch of stories.

that was the whole and sole truth! Ugly pitch..... some say that they only got it wet (irrigated) early in the morning, the day of the game. RCN had also in the news the amount of drugs, knifes, papeletas (small explosives) that were found by the cups in the mid day ck out of the stadium!

Mucho desorden en la venta de boletas. En 30 minutos se vendieron 45.000 tambien hubo mucha reventa. Los claros en el estadio era por razon de seguridad.
