Ch 643 also has the game on I see. FSSW. Is that a Dallas feed? Damn, didn't even know they showed this stuff on the telly
Ugh...another loss. 2 goals in the final 20 mins and the place was packed to the upper decks with non-English speakers for the Cokeheads vs Ecuador.
I thought that was quite a decent game myself eddie.Dallas really turned it on in the second half, sweet passing, slick moves, runs off the ball, passes over the top...excellent play all around in fact. Ruiz may be a diver...I had to laugh when he should have got that penalty, but it was waved away....but he's got some moves.That was a class second goal for Dallas. I'm now officially on the Dallas plastic bandwagon DC who? Once again I will state, that I'm begining to feel that those who knock MLS, don't watch it. Thats 3 games I've watched in two weeks, all of them quite good.
Bwhahahahaha. Ah, you know how us plastics are, if DC play well in Kansas, I'll be back on that wagon in a flash. I have a feeling my team will win the title...er....cup....er.....the second thing thats awarded.
No it was a good game...if you were anyone but a NY fan. Pescandito maricon That's good to hear. The league has it's shit and it has it quality but overall the games are just not that bad. I think reputation keeps the casual, average fan away more than anything. I mean if the team was closer to you, I could see you attending 2-5 games a year now that you've seen that it's not crap. Good man with an open mind! Must be the old age wisdom!
Decisions....decisions....decisions..... DC with a big away win....Dallas looking good...... Um......time to be a real plastic and support both...
Heh. Truth be told, I was always too busy to lose half a day to drag myself out to the freaking Jersey Swamp on weekends. If I worked a normal job and didn't use as much of my time as possible to travel, I'd likely have gone to some games. Oh well - the sides closer to me now are a bit better.
Hey Clan- Two matches tonight: <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr valign="middle"><td align="center" width="56">DCU </td><td rowspan="2" align="center" valign="middle"> DC vs Columbus 05/31 7:30 p.m. ET DK, MLSLIVE.tv audio<small> | </small>video tickets | preview Colorado vs Los Angeles </td><td align="center" width="56">CLB </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td align="center">(5-1-3)</td><td align="center">(3-3-2)</td> </tr> </tbody></table> <!--end game--> <!--start game mls--> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr valign="middle"> <td align="center" width="56">COL</td><td rowspan="2" align="center" valign="middle"> 05/31 9:30 p.m. ET DK, MLSLIVE.tv audio<small> | </small>video tickets | preview </td><td align="center" width="56">LAG</td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td align="center">(3-3-2)</td><td align="center">(2-6-1)</td></tr></tbody></table>
Yeah, I saw that.First of two home games for DC this week. Not on the telly for me though, I didn't splurge for the MLS package. I really can't get over this nonsense of the American domestic television not showing domestic games. There is something not quite right with that. Hey, whats the over/under for Samson surviving? 3 weeks?
Hello my favorite LA plastics, from Foxboro, Massachusetts! And who says there isn't any travelling support in MLS.. pffffffffffffft. I'm here for the DC/Revs game. They're opening up the stadium early as well, to show the Italy/USA game this afternoon, so it should be interesting. VAMOS UNITED!
Well, plastic fans now will be able to watch more MLS games. ESPN announced an 8 year deal for the broadcast rights for all MLS games. "ESPN2 will broadcast 26 regular-season games on Thursday nights as well as three playoff games a year. The deal also allows televised coverage of the first round of the MLS SuperDraft. Also, ABC will broadcast the league's season opener, the All-Star game and the MLS Cup." http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=375076&cc=5901
Because if they didn't have a salary cap, there'd be no competition, they'd have super clubs and then every other club, like EPL does. Yes NFL has a salary cap but I don't know about the other sports.
They have to have a cap because they are in the genesis of the league. If they had only 3 or 4 main clubs with money at this point the league would fold. With the cap it means every market can have a competitive team. In the EPL and I would guess most other football leagues worldwide the teams are established and the fan bases are loyal (they don't have to split time between 5 sports as they do here) so there's not the same worry. There have always been mega teams but I don't know if this is a massive problem. Always having a Real Madrid or Bayern or Juve to aim for is a challenge. Everyone hates a winner in England. We hated Liverpool, then Utd, then Arsenal, now Chelsea and in the future whoever is the next dominant force.
Actually, the NHL and the NFL do have salary caps. Only the MLB doesn't anymore in US sports, although they've introduced a "luxury tax".
Let's also not forget that if the English first division was created 10 years ago like MLS was, they would have a salary cap and would not have relegation too.
