I remember when Leonardo decided to introduce his elbow to Tab Ramos at the Round of 16 match during USA '94. Tab was never the same after that.
Agreed. Woof and meh. Totally not up for it, and I don't like the injuries. @TrickHog - where do we put the World Cup thread? I want to chat about it with you guys rather than the Nats thread.
Jalen Neal gets a January camp call-up. Not sure it was merited just based on G2 play last year, but he has done well with the USYNT teams and it's nice to see him get moved up the chain and get some recognition. Hope it's a springboard to something better this year with the senior Galaxy squad and not something that pushes him down the pecking order of Galaxy defenders because he's away from preseason camp for awhile. McBride out of the USMNT, the Reyna's really went scorched earth because their baby boy was not given carte blanche. https://www.espn.com/soccer/united-...-manager-brian-mcbride-wont-return-to-program I really don't see Berhalter being part of the USMNT going forward to many hurt feelings and animosity in that camp for it to ever be right. Earnie has quite a job ahead of him to pick another coach, I'd really like to see him pick a Latin American or European coach just to see the Reyna's head explode when they try to pull a similar stunt and the new coach tells them to get bent.
This is being discussed in a couple other boards and my question was, I wonder if McBride was told you have to get rid of Berhalter and he refused based on the scandal and the precedent it might establish. You know, ethical/personal basis. McBride's main job with the Nats was to hire and fire the national coach. It's intriguing. But I agree, Berhalter has to go. take a break, come take over Galaxy at end of season. I wonder if Mcbride would fancy a position with a West Coast team that is in serious need of new blood?
Maybe he could serve as our player-coach? We need his competitiveness on the squad. Plus, even using a walker he would score more than Cabral ever did.
Let’s gooooooo Jalen! https://t.co/s5nOzJ3ZWK— M a y o (@grainymayo) January 26, 2023 Jalen starts. This just got interesting.
We’re all rooting HARD for Jalen aren’t we? Hoping he can become a regular for the US team and for the Galaxy.
Joveljik putting on a clinic of intelligent minimalist 1-touch play. Two of Serbia’s best chances initiated by his perfectly paced & placed passes. Third just now created by his Oscar worthy dive. And unfortunately for us, finished by his teammate.
Neal looking composed but not tested so far Playing conservatively but that is not surprising for an 18 yo’s first cap. US playing well in 1st half, especially on offense. Sublime finish by Vazquez. Unfortunate defensive mistake by US player in the wall.
Impressed especially by: Vazquez - fantastic backward snap header. Paxton Pomykal - calm and composed and proactive. Gomez - very composed for 18yo keeper, great double save. Gressel - great assist. Zendejas - had some promising chances. Aiden Morris - quick, active, nice passing.
Cade Cowell hits inside of right post and then hits left post - extremely unfortunate not to get goal!
Yorba Linda native Matthew Hoppe not getting minutes at Middlesbrough lately. He can play wing. I’d be interested in kicking the can around his camp to see if there is interest if I were the Galaxy.
